Abolish the Air Force! (yet again)

^^^ +1 Right, just because we are fighting an insurgent war now means we'll never have to establish air superiority EVER again. Any future conflict with an industrialized nation will require massive amounts of air power to inflict heavy losses and save friendly lives on the ground. We may well...

Monster Marine OCS thread: stupid questions answered here!

I have no idea if your allergy is officially disqualifying, but if it is not, I would think you have a more realistic shot with the Navy. Even if you were to go to boot camp on the west coast, which I don't think you can do since it's based on your geographic location when you enlist, you...

    A Lost Generation?

There's probably a direct correllation between declining patriotism and the political correctness in our environment along with the pussification of America's youth. Too many young people have a sense of entitlement and lack a strong work ethic.

    Blood Type?

They did, which is why I'm confused. I wouldn't be surprised if they have mis-identified mine and someone else's and they're trying to narrow down who's-who. :icon_wink

    Blood Type?

Has anyone had this problem before? My recruiter called and said NAS Corpus won't release my flight physical until they find out my blood type. I have no clue what it is, neither do my parents, and it's not in my records at my doctor's office. They took my blood while I was there so I'd think...

Information needed on NAS Cecil Field, FL

Those are great pics, the B-17 was and probably still is my favorite airplane of all time. Too bad rides go for around $500 a pop for 30 minutes. Still I'll probably pony up one of these days just for the experience.

    Need some advice, please.

No problems here Goob, I'm 20/20. I'm going for SNA. I just thought that it used to be PRK and LASEK were ok for flight, and that they recently started accepting LASIK. Could be wrong, that was just stuck in my head for some reason.
  15. Mr. Blonde

    Need some advice, please.

Goob, I thought the Navy recently started accepting LASIK as part of a test program?

I read in one article that they were to be "fired". That wording confused me, does anyone know if this means they are being discharged or just sent to some desk job in Alaska or Greenland?

    ORIGINS of PATCHES

I like the last one the best.:D I'm guessing those types of patches are becoming few and far between in actual practice. To think, 50 years ago they used to paint things worse than that on the actual plane. That's why I voted for my grandfather's Navy.

    October Boards

Someone posted over on usnavyocs.com that some packages were misplaced in Tennessee. I wonder if it had anything to do with the new order requiring meds and PRT included in the package and many of those being sent in late as add-ons.

The board did indeed meet, and for some reason my package didn't make it all the way to the board. I'm guessing it must have had something to do with my PRT being sent in late. So the wait continues for the November board...:(

And the website says most degree's are 36-39 hours, so at $1000 a class for 12-13 classes plus books you can get in at around $17-18,000? That's pretty good.

    October Boards: PRT?

I just saw a post on usnavyocs.com by a Lt. who is an OPO saying that effective immediately, passing PRT's are required before your package can go to a board. Apparently too many people are failing the in-PRT's and getting rolled into H company. I called my OSO to confirm and so far he says...

'She' was active duty Navy at the time, doing a shore tour as an NROTC advisor during my first two years in school. At the end of my second year, her contract was close to expiring and she was presented with the opportunity of switching to the AF. This was back in '03 so I don't remember...

Keep in mind if you can't redesignate to pilot now it doesn't mean you can't one day be in the front seat. My Freshman year NROTC class advisor was a former F-14 RIO who lat transferred to either the regular or reserve (I think reserve) Air Force and was sent back to school for F-16's...
