    2008 NROTC Boards

Here's the latest scoop, Iron Maiden: Results from December board were released today. If your scholarship went to the boards and you weren't picked, it means they passed over your application and will review it again. This happened to me apparently, contrary to what my recruiter said would...

    Waiting List

Thanks for the tips. I'm still waiting to hear whether or not a scholarship at all, but once/if my recruiter gives me my options, I'll let you know what I end up doing.

    Waiting List

I heard from my recruiter that my top choice school's NROTC unit had already filled up before my application even went to the boards. He said if I eventually receive a scholarship to a different school, I can opt out of that and ask to be put on the waiting list for my top choice school...

Mythbusters to take on: PLANE ON A TREADMILL!!

I thought the point of the conveyor belt was that it would move at the same speed but opposite to the wheels so the plane stays in the same place. Is this it or did I read it wrong?

    2008 NROTC Boards

My recruiter has been telling me that I'll hear next week... since early October. The kind lady at NSTC told me that there was a board around the 15th or so and I would be hearing sometime in January. Apparently there is some kind of waiting list for the boards as my package was complete in...

    REQUEST: Good aviation/military books

Just read a great book called Ship of Ghosts about the U.S.S. Houston. It tells the true story of the POW's in Japanese-held East Asia and the real story of "Bridge over the River Kwae". Recommended for any WW2 buff.

USS Kitty Hawk and the Hong Kong port call visit caper

It's very naive to assume that actions which would only benefit the government have been committed by non-government rivals. As for "the good ol' days", I seem to recall there was a similar sense of nostalgia and humiliation in Germany during the 1920-30s. Don't think that a disgraced country...

USS Kitty Hawk and the Hong Kong port call visit caper

I think it's naive to assume that Russia could never make a return to its former state. Russia is sad and pathetic but does anyone remember post-War World I Germany? Russia's government is a criminal organization: such is almost a prerequisite for war with America. You have painted a very clear...

That's my point. A Coke is a Coke. A Root Beer is a Root Beer. It makes about as much sense as ordering lemonade and getting more specific by asking for Grape Juice.

You're right- the Army and Marines need it the most right now. However, I don't think China is investing in this kind of military so they can maintain their status as the Walmart of the world.
