Why the Marines don't fly the A-10?

Are you honestly comparing Heavy lift aircraft to light attack aircraft? That is absolutely ridiculous. By your logic, why doesn't the Marine Corps invest in 747's because CH-46's will fit on the boat... Apples and Oranges.

No, but if you keep saying stuff like ":::Fear:::" you will probably catch hell. Break, Break: Bottom line: What is the point of this question? If they said "Yes, as a prior they will treat you 1,000x times worse", would it change anything? Would it help you prepare? I know those...

Congrats. Now comes the sorriest 9 months ever, while you (or he) wait(s) to go to MECEP Prep. Edit: BTW, Crowbar and KBayDog are excellent resources for all things MECEP, when I got selected, I PM'd them and they really gave me a lot of valuable information.

They can't replace the Huey w/ the MV-22 because the Huey is too good looking of a helicopter. The 46 on the other hand...;) The Yankee looks like it will be pretty badass, I am happy the Huey is getting some luvin, esp. in the engine department, it needs it. Used to watch them race...

How does a rigid rotor head affect flight characteristics? For instance, the H-1's have semi-rigid heads, and have a pretty large range for blade flap, how does that work out w/ a rigid head? I am guessing the head has to have to have pretty similar tolerances for blade flap, but with a...

    Funny Acronyms!

Paperwork has acronyms as well. For example, all new joins are required to fill out their ID-10-T forms. Also, BA-1100N's should be filled expeditiously, and placed on an ST-Ring. (Also, if we run out of these forms, grab the keys to the humvee, drive down to admin, and pick up some...

That is stupid bureacracy, but the Presidential blame only extends as far as him choosing bad administrators. The REAL blame, that has been put undeservedly on the President (IMO), has been the incredible ineptitude of the city, district, and state government. Utterly pathetic. It is...

    Saluting

No --- When I did my FAP to PMO as a gate guard we had problems with "blue sticker dependents." We had one go through and the MP failed to salute her, she got in his face and asked where her salute was, to which he replied something along the lines of "It's at OCS ma'am, you have to get...

    Saluting

A salute is still rendered, even if the recipient cannot return the salute. For example, if you see CO in civilian attire, you would still salute even though he can't return it. The gate guard is saluting the blue sticker.

    AF vs. Marines

Dude, don't make your decision based on some rah-rah "slit 'em with a K-Bar" image. Being a Marine sucks a lot of the time. You will deploy a lot to places that aren't great, you WILL miss a lot of family time. The base facilities on Marine Corps installations aren't nearly as nice as...

Stupid Electricity Question aka self electrocution

Do you have a schematic for this thing? Edit: If it is in series, look on the schematic, find the total resistance of the system, then use Ohms Law. Easy.

Stupid Electricity Question aka self electrocution

Are your 3 engines in series or parallel? What is their resistance drop? Figure out their resistance, then use Ohms Law (E = I * R) to determine the power source. Actually, your BEST bet might be to use a capacitor. Charge it and set it to discharge when you connect the circuit (easiest...

    Crunch form

Rather than shooting for 50 or 70 or whatever, just get to where you can do all 100 w/out stopping... One good workout is to hold yourself at a 45 degree angle and tense your abs and just hold it as long as you can. If you feel it in your back or your legs, adjust your angle.

    Our Military Is Never Right

This was written by some unknown Chief, found it on a couple websites, enjoy: America's military can win wars. We've done it in the past, and I have absolute confidence that we'll continue to do it in the future. We've won fights in which we possessed overwhelming technological superiority...

advances in infantry weapons technology vs. advances in aviation weapons technology

Enter LAV's, AMTRACK's, M1A1's, Humvee's, etc..., and exit running around (to some extent). Land mobile operations are really difficult in terrain like Iraq. It takes so much effort and so much time to dig in for the day in the deep desert, that you have to stop moving pretty early.
  48. HueyCobra8151

advances in infantry weapons technology vs. advances in aviation weapons technology

We have spent the last couple thousand years perfecting the infantryman's weapon...whereas we have had less than 100 years to work on aircraft. There HAVE been some major improvements though. The interceptor system w/ SAPII plates, the SALLE system, the M16A4 line w/ things like ACOGs.
