A&M is far from a military school. 5% of the student body is in the Corps. You have to live in the Corps dorms, but they are situated on campus so getting away from a "military" environment is a 50 foot walk. When the West Point cadets came down for the A&M WP game, they all said they wished...
I am a graduating senior in the Corps... so of course I am going to tell you to go to A&M. Freshman year is tough, but then again it really helped me make it through OCS. I am in an all male outfit and somehow I have made it 4 years without getting "ax handled" or any of that crap. There is...
I was told (but don't know if it is true) that the number one reason for Lieutenants loosing their commission during TBS is fraternization. So don't fraternize.
So I took a real estate course for my major last summer and I remember the prof telling us about the different ways to prematurely terminate a lease without facing any penalies. I remember him saying somthing about servicmen being able to present their orders to the apatment manager and by law...
My platoon was told by our Plt Commander that we were not officially Marines yet. However, my platoon did go through the EGA ceremony and each of were presented with an EGA by the Plt Sgt.
OCS is competitive, but you should still do all you can to help out your fellow candidates. This will boost your peer evals and will make your time at OCS more enjoyable since you will be closer to your classmates. There is ZERO tolerance for integrity violations. An example... 5 guys in my...
Its pretty embarrassing that this is coming from an Aggie. Every officer I've ever talked to who has been through SERE school says its pretty rough... but I have never heard anything as bad as how he described it. For example if you read the description of SERE school in One Bullet Away, the...
I went to juniors when Col. Chase was still there and I went to seniors this past summer under Col. Mancini. For the most part, things seemed very similar to me under both CO's. One of the changes I noticed is how they strive more to keep us healthy by doing less running and making sure we get...
http://www.tbs.usmc.mil/All_MOS_Assignment_Process.asp
This is kind of outside the topic of the thread but I found it on the TBS site and it was pretty interesting. It shows how many LT's got which MOS in a recent class.
Note: it shows only 1 LT getting pilot, which I am assuming means that...
Pretty rough news for all the Aggies out there... an army blackhawk just went down on Duncan Field behind the corps dorms. CNN reports 1 dead 4 injured. Everyone on campus is pretty shaken up right now.

Is that really how slow rounds move? Or is there a difference in velocity between tracers and standard rounds? I guess its hard to judge how far the rounds are going, but they really don't appear to be moving as fast as I would think.
University of Houston, Mr. Blonde? Really? I already got my high school diploma! But yea, like others were saying its not worth it to cram for that kind of stuff before OCS. Its not rocket science and it better to just learn it there. Definitely worth looking over before you ship though.
Graduated OCS today! Just some advice, if you look over this stuff before you go to OCS, don't get to confident. When they give you the notebook full of stuff to study, memorize THAT format, because you will have a test where you have to write out the main highlighted words by hand.
A year before OCS I could do 8 pullups and I worked up to 20 or 21. I used armstrong until I hit 20 or 21 pullups. It took pretty much a full year for me to work my way up to that and I was working at it 5 or 6 days a week.
If it makes you FEEL more prepared and confident about your ability to graduate OCS... what harm can it be? I will admit, there is very little you can do to prepare for OCS besides PT but if studying the general orders or USMC history or whatever makes you feel more confident then what harm...
I don't know where you would get a stencil, the easiest way to get the exact one would be to find a buddy who has done OCS already and get it from him. Its really not a big deal, just a little time saver. You will have a lot of sitting around time before you go through pick-up that you can do...
the only thing I am doing to prep for seniors is get a million rolls of athletic tape, and cut them into 6 inch strips and stencil my last name onto all of them and stick them into the inside of a binder or some other surface for later use. Oh and I guess I will do some PT
Theblackness, Its good to hear I am not alone. This is pure speculation, but my guess is that your OSO is not reporting your surgery in order to simplify things. I believe you are supposed to report all surgeries to BUMED or wherever, at least that is what my OSO tells me. Maybe your OSO is...
Just saying what my OSO told me. It is not a problem if both eyes combined are better than 20/20. Mine are. I was told that if an individual eye is better than 20/20 it is disqualifying. Does not make sense to me either, just repeating what I have heard from my oso.
So it took me a while to figure out what paperwork I need concerning PRK, but after doing lots of research on airwarriors and through my OSO, I made a checklist that I kind of wish i had before getting PRK back in December.
1. Before surgery (for me, it was a few weeks prior to surgery) you...
I did not have to worry about the whole haircut thing since I am a guy but I was certainly worried about seemingly trivial things before attending OCS, just as eyzondapryz is. Not going to lie, if I was a girl I would probably be a little worried about the hair thing too. I don't think anybody...
I am a guy and all so I am no expert... but at Marine OCS it looked to me like the girls could have their hair most of the way to their shoulders. Most of them were that way, and only a few had it shorter and I assume that was by choice. I think they were kidding about the buzzing...
The few people that have posted info on A&M are pretty much dead on... it is definitly not a 8-5 deal. I would not trade it for anything, and I am definitly glad I did not go to an all military school. At A&M you live the military lifestyle because the section of campus the corps of cadets is...
I picked up a PLC air contract a year ago with a 3.6 gpa, 230 pft and good astb scores, but I have heard of people with considerably worse stats than me getting a contract.
I went to Marine OCS this past summer with 20/60 vision. They gave me a pair of BCG's about halfway through the 6 weeks and I just never wore them. never got questioned.
meps sucks at eyes. They told me I had 20/200 corrected to only 20/30 which i know was way off. Luckily I was persistant and raised a stink, so they sent me to a civi doctor down the street where I had a quick exam done (not at my expense) and it gave my vision as 20/70 corrected to 20/20...
from what I understand, the test is pretty much pass fail. As long as you get above the minimum, whatever you got matters very little. I only studied it enough to understand the layout and timing of the test. The only part that you can truly study for is the aviation section, just read up a...
The Capt that took me on an incentive flight told me that the guys in classes of '07 and '08 applying for OCS/OCC are going to have a really hard time getting Air.
I got contracted by my OSO in November and the board results came out recently, and yes I have been approved by the board. I was contracted for pilot, not NFO. Has anybody had any experience with getting PRK done on your own while on PLC? That sounds like the best option for me. I was just...
I picked up a PLC pilot contract recently and I was wondering how the whole vision thing is going to work. I went to MEPS where I had 20/70 vision (corrected to 20/20), and from what I have read on airwarriors this is not good enough for pilot, now that the contact lens waiver is no longer...
I am a sophomore on PLC air going to juniors this summer. I know your situation is different with OCC and all but I am not getting my physical till senior year, after completing both juniors and seniors OCS.
I am a business major and got an NROTC acceptance the second time I applied. 3.6 GPA 290 pft
I changed my mind between the time I applied and the time I got accepted, i am now PLC air contract
I was told on this site that the NROTC program was not accepting 2-3 year non-tech majors, but that i should apply anyway. I applied and was rejected the first time, applied again for the summer board and was again shot down but the board went over all the applicants a second time for a...
