Goliath, Get the Marine study guide and retake the astb. My first test I scored a 41 on the OAR portion and 4s and 6s on the other parts. I retook the test yestersay and I scored 56 or a 57 and got 7 and 9 on the other rest. The study guide can really help. I don't know how in the world I will...

Don't piss him off just ride him a little and show him that you are indeed wanting to do this. Don't let him skirt the answers. Be direct and to the point. If he doesn't give you what you want the first time approach it from another direction. Adapt and overcome. Terrain dictates your action...

Yeager breaks the barrier one last time

Something about not having a college degree I think. It almost prevented him from becoming a test pilot. I think that is what I remember from his autobiography. I read it back in high school

    Complaint

It seems that as slow as the A-10 goes they could kick the carrier in over drive and the warthog could almost do a v-stol landing on the deck. Just kidding

    Wondering?

I have had the same problem in the past. My recruter is onthe other side of the state from me. I went to the local enlisted recruter and had them issue the test. I am sure that the local officer recruter could do the same. They can fax the information to your recruter.

    Complaint

The AF guys don't really like to get their hands dirty. It would make sence to me to give the A-10 to the Marines and the Army so they could do their own close air support. After all it is their own people out there. I know I will probably get a few people saying how we are all together out...

    A-6 Intruder

psrogers: It's a paper back I picked up in Barns and Noble. It is not a novel it is kind of like a text book. tali: They made the Book Flight of the Intruders into a movie but it doesn't give the book justice. The author I think is named Steven Coonts. He wrote a ton of other novles about the...

    A-6 Intruder

The A-6 was an awsome plane. If you want to read a book about them based in Vietnam read Flight of The Intruders. Can't remember the name of the writer. Also if you are wondering why they were removed from the inventory read Clancy's book called Carriers. It is a good book for any one wanting to...

    Lt on Point

The coolest thing about the marines is the amount of responsability that they give to their lower enlisted. Lance Cpl. are given fire teams to lead into battle. Pretty Cool for a kid just out of High School maybe one or two years.

    Feet

Speaking as a former Army Vulcan crewmember and a stinger gunner the pantyhose is more for preventing chafing. You wear them on long humps and you don't chafe the inside of your legs. AS for helping your feet I don't know. On long hikes it is important to keep your feet dry and cool if the hose...

    Feet

davidson, All I can tell you about your feet is build up your calluses. Walk around in bare feet outside. Watch for glass! Continue to wear your boots and know that they are going to hurt until your feet are callused over. They won't be pretty but it is the only way that I know to keep your feet...

    test

E6286, Technicaly they havn't changed I guess. My Navy Recruter told me that they are now "Looking" for 6's accross the board and they would like to see an OAR of at least 50. They get to be picky because so many people have applied as of late. Oh if I had only submitted a week or two earlier...

    test

The navy raised their scores true but from what my OSO told me the Marines have not raised their requirements. I am not sure what they require either. I had competative scores with the navy before they changed things. Needless to say they turned me down. However, the Marine OSO called me the...

    Enlistment to Commission

4thpage, Ok since you play trombone and we are talking about killing people with our instruments check this out. I used to play in a Brass Choir. Since there is so much talk about the arco book. Maybe someone can answer this. I got this out of the reading or verbal portion on the air force practice test. Enlistment to Commission

Alan, There are a lot of musicians in each branch. I don't think the navy would not let you switch to ocs if you qualified for it. They are probably more likely to reward you for your good service. As far as giving up on your training as a musician. You don't have to stop playing because you are...

    thoughts on war with Iraq

This is just my two cents. I am former Army and was sent to Haiti in Operation Uphold Democracy. This doesn't in and of itself make me very cool but I have locked and loaded to perform patrols at night in an urban inviroment. I have mixed emotions about going to war with Iraq. I agree with what...

WTF how come there are no Navy OCS journals

I really have enjoyed this string. I don't know if there are any more Air Force members still reading this but lighten up. This is what people do in the military. When I was in the Army as a vulcan gunner and stinger ADA crew member we made fun of every branch including our own. We talked more...

    Music Degree?

Hey 4thpage, I too was a music major. Trombone Player, but I majored in Conducting. I applied in July at the same time they raised the astb score requirements. Blew me out of the water. I am working on raising my math skills and learning more about the Nautical stuff. Maybe if we get in we can...

    OCS and Flight Physical

I took the Flight Physical last month in Washington for the Marines. My advice to you is to be honest when they ask questions but you don't want to give information that has not been documented i.e. hay fever. They get kind of uppity about that. I would say to tell them what and only what a...

Biobod, I am prior service as well. My GPA is higher and I have masters work completed but my scores on the ASTB were not as high. I was turned down but I am resubmitting with the Navy after I raise the scores and I am also applying with the Marines as well. The application process is much the...

Scott, Good job on the PFT. I got stuck down hear working with students over the weekend. Going to try and make it up in the next few weeks. Don't think I will get a 275 though. Good Luck Hudson

Bad News like everyone else it seems

Well if they look for the liberal arts to make fun of I majored in music. Alas however I was rejected. I am trying for the Marines now. They could have a lot of fun with my major there. Hudson

    Seasonal Allergies DQ?

    Aloha! Rim Pac in Hawaii

I was stationed on Schofield in the middle of Oahu when I was in the Army as a vulcan gunner. We would go to Kbay and track the f-18s and to Barbers Point NAS and track the P3s on aproach and take off. Good memories Hudson

Anyone trying for the January OCC class?

Matt, I am trying for the Jan date as well. I was just turned down by the Navy because they raised their test score requirements the day I submitted. The Marine recruter called this morning and offered to try and get me in. Good luck to you and hope to see you there. Hudson
  43. H

Is there any point in applying right now?

Apply, What it the worst that could happen. On one hand you get in as a SNA on the other hand you get SNFO. Either way you are in with a slot date. If you decide to turn down the NFO slot then you resubmit for only SNA. You might wait a while for your slot but who is to say it will be better in...

    surgery question

I wouldn't withold any information that they could later dig up. The military can due some pretty heavy stuff leagaly if they catch it. Little things like jail time if it is serious enough. Just a thought from an older applicant. Hudson
