    5.56 Advice Needed

I had AR fun for a while - now have a Sig 556 Classic I like it a lot better than my AR - for a number of reasons when I got my Sig they had a factory $300 rebate (or you could get like $500 worth of accessories, something like that) but even at a relatively expensive online shop such as...

Interesting story from an old Aviator.

Amazing find in a barn: FM-2 Wildcat..and it can be yours for > $100K

Trust me - it's complicated AFMAN 23-110 gives up all aircraft wreck ownership, title, stake, etc prior to 1961. This is from personal experience.

Amazing find in a barn: FM-2 Wildcat..and it can be yours for > $100K

There's a lot of misinformation here, some is true, some isn't. Museums don't automatically get first crack at AAF aircraft. It's complicated to explain here. But the Navy is significantly different from AF policy regarding ownership.

Amazing find in a barn: FM-2 Wildcat..and it can be yours for > $100K

Interesting it supposedly has a clear title from the Navy, specifically the Naval Museum, usually they're a huge asspain to deal with. "Found" in a "barn" with a clear title... yeah... ok.... wonder why the barn BS?

Graduating senior..Navy OCS to flight school an option?

Unfortunately, I think the flying time is a subjective factor to the board or not too much of a factor. I applied AD Navy with a lot of time C/MEL, MES, SEL, IR, etc and no dice. My GPA was about a 2.8 when I applied I think with a 7/8/8 test score. But also an arrest on my record so...

    Question about L-39's...

Just as a point of clarification... the L-29 has a 500TBO, but the L-39 is generally up to 1000TBO or more Fuel burn on the L-39 at cruise is around 10kg/min which equals about ~1400lbs/hr, take off power can be around 2200lbs/hr

  17. ryan1234

    Question about L-39's...

They are what they are. Not too expensive to own/operate compared to other jets.... self contained starts. Parts are usually pretty cheap and easy to come by. The engine's advertised TBO is 1000 - will it run longer... probably. 1984+ are the years that you want if you can get it. They're...

Holy Shit....this dude is one lucky SOB!

don't want to Monday QB at all...but... Gliders usually have a tremendous amount of adverse yaw... so for the average piston pilot who is used to dealing with gyro-precession, p-factor, etc and not too much adverse yaw.... combine that with a nose high turn and a slower airspeed.

    Aerial Combat

This is pretty neat description of aerial combat. Kill'em and Eat'em This came from a gent who runs a 2000 acre corn farm up around Barron, WI., not far from Oshkosh . He used to fly F-4Es and F-16s for the Guard and participated in the first Gulf War. His story: I went out to plant corn...

    International Burn a Qu'ran Day

Many of you think this pastor is crazy...and he may be...but may not be ignorant... Burning the Koran is an act of war to many Muslims, particularly in the Arab world - many clerics have said so. Violence with Arabs isn't just rooted in Islam, it's rooted in poverty, corruption, failed...

No weapons for E-4 and below on watch

Ha - true.... I would just, idealistically, think that if you were joining the Army - even if to be in the band... you could still possess a certain amount of weapons proficiency that would sorta come with wearing the ACUs and all that stuff. It's not like it's asking a lot.
  27. ryan1234

No weapons for E-4 and below on watch

Why should they be in the 'Profession of Arms' then? Basic firearm proficiency is not some foreign skill - if they're untrainable in the very basic means of defense.... what good are they?

Is this guy dumb, or just retarded?

I doubt any of us will ever see Single Pilot ops in 121 operations..... soooo many things would have to be done Aircraft certification is one of them.... Question about ASTB and jobs you put down on your officer application

Dude - if you put down a job, you should want the job and know all about it.. otherwise don't put it down and con the board into making them think you actually want a job that someone else actually wants. No offense, but it sounds like you should consider taking a hard look at what exactly it...

Great content overall - but these statements sound a little weird... the first statement of the original paragraph emphasizes "opportunity" of being an F-16 Crew Chief (which I thought was two words?).... followed sharply by the "opportunity" to leave AD. I don't know... just doesn't seem to...
