Do SNFOs at VT-86 do some amazingly difficult training that you couldn't send non jet pilots to fly them? VNAV, INAV, Forms, basic BFM sets? I know a lot of helo types who couldn't get s flying shore tour with an EP.

Same idea. We had Cat Is meet us on deployment. I went to air wing Fallon with one week in the squadron. We can and did mint H2Ps, HACs, Level 2/3/4s on the boat. Painful for the tactics stuff, but doable. Just a different mentality vice the EXP squadrons since we couldn't rely on a home guard.

We did HARP there in 2015 and it was a good time. Again, bunch of TAD folks like drinking where they're staying. Were cool with us ordering pizzas and whatnot too. I'm sure the tips helped.

It probably depends on your travel habits. I regularly connect through ATL on Delta, so there's a SkyClub in each terminal and I take advantage. Even on a short layover, nice to grab a snack, free beer/wine/cocktail/coffee, and just be out of the terminal environment if only for a few minutes...

Do it. No state income tax (or income tax return to do) for your active duty time. And when you get stationed out of state, buy a car, register it in FL, and skip out on sales tax.
