The first time i applied i was still in college and i was out of Sacramento, they had me do my flight physical at Lemoore NAB. I wasn't selected for pilot, the second time i applied was after i had moved back to San Diego some two years later this febuary and i did the flight physical at...

    Occ196

Hmmm, thats definitely news to me. I can understand the flight physical being pretty pricey, but why have a candidate do alllll the other components of the application, get selected, then several days prior to OCS find out that they aren't qual'd medically!? I would be pissed! Rather, take the...

I thought in order to be selected the flight physical came prior to your package being submitted...Wouldn't the flight physical be a huge factor prior to selection? Either way if your in congrats!

    A little background...

Don't be discouraged by the GPA i'm almost positive my was lower than a 2.5, but still got selected SNA for 196. I ran a 280PFT, with a 7/7/7 ASTB and solid package, i also had a DUI when i was 17. So don't give up, continue to apply and just prove to them your ultimate dream is that of a Marine.

HAHA getting my ass off coronado isn't easy to do w/ the beach 3 blocks from my house, however i have been hitting up the hills in balboa park with the bellevilles and i'm getting a pretty good workout that way. I would definitely head out to pendleton if my dependant card didn't expire like 5...

Well if thats his philosophy i concur, and not bc of PT fear but b/c i think its more applicable to real life combat. Yes your endurance needs to be tested but if people (good candidates) are constantly getting npq'd for stress fractures and shin splints then maybe restructuring isn't a bad...

A while back i purchased some belleville icb's hot weather 10.5 even though i normally wear 11.5. Initially i got 11's but they were too big so i went down another half size and now their fine, and i've steadily been breaking them in. However i ordered some sorbethane insoles to help during the...

I first applied for OCC my senior year back in 05 and i applied for all three as i was told applying for all three slots looks really good to the board..shows you want to be a Marine and not just a pilot. Life with a Marine Officer?

I was just selected at age 25 and was urged to definitely get the ball rolling now, as i need to be commissioned by 26.5 in order to pursue flight school. However age waivers may be plausible to pursue though not easy to come by.

Dave I'm out of the San Diego office, and i haven't inquired since being selected what AIR slots are yet remaining.....i would think since your hoping to class up with 196 for an air slot you would have that question already answered from your OSO. I've been through to offices SAC and SD...

20 mi/week is probably on the higher end only b/c there is a fine line between getting properly prepared and ovetraining. Sticking to 15mi/week and getting in all your speedwork, crosstraining, and distance and saying around 15 can be just as effective and less straining on your body. Make sure...

  37. Trev82

    OCC Boards?

You are accurate on them being more selective towards OCC applicants and when i stated a 280 is what your shooting for that was more for OCC'ers now your statement that a 285 is a guaranteed selection is definitely not true...there is no way they're going to guarantee your selection based soley...

Well shoot, the 196 class doesn't even START until sept/oct which is then followed by 197 so for 198 to 199 you can expect the boards to be meeting sometimes next year although you can get preselected for the 198 class when the boards meet for 197. That happened in my case, my packet was...

Australian Black Hawk Crash at sea

Your right it's wrong to make assumptions prior to conclusive decisions have been made, its wrong to the families and the crew. It was very raw footage and being that i'm in no position to make assessments i was hoping to get sage advice from some veterans and learn from it.

its sounds to me that you while you want to be a Marine officer you'd like to eventually become a pilot, if thats the case then fortify your packet make sure its competitive and all the wrinkles are ironed out and apply for 197...not to say if you went ground you shouldn't fortify it either...
