www.msnbc.com is reporting that authorities have no evidence of terrorism. The NYTimes also has some info regarding the crash and possible casualties. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/11/nyregion/12crashcnd.html?hp&ex=1160625600&en=43676d689354db2c&ei=5094&partner=homepage

Finding out where you'll be stationed

Yeah, flight school length is dependent upon which aircraft your boyfriend will fly and if there's a back-up in that training pipeline or not. My husband and I find out where we're getting stationed next february/march, so we're super excited.

Not a "spouse", but seemed appropriate.

Coldnavy, you really like those titles, huh? :) And I agree with you... of course this lifestyle comes with huge sacrifices on both ends and both people need to evaluate whether they're individiually willing/able to embrace those sacrifices. I think that if you had coupled what you just said...

Not a "spouse", but seemed appropriate.

Hmmm... I get where you're going, Coldnavy, but I respectfully disagree. Showing concern about being separated doesn't mean you're making a bad career choice. If concern is coupled with fear or doubt, then the career choice is probably bad. My husband was "concerned" about being separated...

    What could go wrong?

My husband was BDCP while we were in college and he got BAH, so unless they've changed things since then (which is always a possibility), you should get BAH in addition to pay. And I believe that making the Dean's list will get you a promotion/pay increase. Again, that's how it was when my...

OH, don't be fooled, there are still a ton of terrazzo floors. We lucked out of getting one of those and getting carpet. Ah, the simple pleasures. Is there a community board or something where we could maybe post a flyer to find a fence?

    2 Questions

    1) My husband said that IFS is all you get... not a PPL. A PPL requires a minimum of 40 hours, and IFS will get you about 25 hours. If he wants to pursue pilot training with the Montgomery GI Bill after he gets out, my husband said he could use it for that. My husband also thinks your...

When my husband reported to API, he had to get all of the same shots he got three months prior, while he was in OCS. The Navy had apparently lost his shot records. So, I'd recommend definitely keeping a copy of your civilian records just in case. Let's hope the Marines keep better track of...

    Leave for a funeral?

Does anyone know what the Navy's policy is for granting time off for funerals? I've always thought it had to be an "immediate family member" to be granted leave, but I'm hoping (but not confident) that they make special exceptions. My husband's, (Ben on this site, in primary at the moment)...
