    I second that. :)

    Married During API?

We're already up to speed on all of that. None of us have heard of it... (and several of us talked about it over dinner.) Still don't believe that, as we've all had people we know get married at various stages of training/service and no one else has had that occur. Maybe your friend was just...

    Wings Over Houston

The show was seriously a ton of fun! My ears were a little sore afterwards, even though I wore earplugs, but it was worth it! It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to go again. :)

    Married During API?

There are five things you're supposed to do for your wife when you get married: 1. Submit a marriage packet to your command (No documentation is more important because with it she will be officially recognized and receive the benefits of a spouse by the Defense Enrollment Eligibility System...

    Any news for NAS Pensacola??

The unconfirmed news is as follows: The higher-ups have decided that it's gonna cost too much (to the tune of $100 million) to fix up Pensacola in the near future for it to be operational. The OCS'ers there are all being sent in waves to Rhode Island, starting on tuesday, according to the...

    Da Vinci Code

Well Kevin, I managed to step on your toes, huh? Well, I don't thoroughly self-research every topic I have an opinion on, just the ones that I choose to post about on here. Makes it nice when people know what they're talking about, don't you think? And while you're thinking that I have ample...

    any advice

With the old ASTB, results used to take ten minutes! (Or at least they did when I took it... back when you had to walk uphill, both ways, in the snow, without shoes just to get to the testing center). Hopefully when the grading gets smoother on the new one, they'll speed up the results some.

    Da Vinci Code

Kevin~ I'm not trying to step on your toes. I was just curious. When I defend issues, I try to make sure that I am educated on both sides. It makes for a more educated defense, rather than just linking an article where someone else did their homework on it. I read the book and didn't take...
  13. crysmc

    where to take the ASTB?

I second what cdyboy says. If you ace it the first time around, you don't have to worry about it again. Also, when you take it and get your scores, your scores can apply to the Navy or the Marines.... you don't have to take it separately for each.

    Sightseers Get Unexpected Treat

    Sightseers Get Unexpected Treat

Did they really title that "Sightseers Get Unexpected Treat"? If so, that's disgusting... I mean, while unexpected, that is no where close to being a treat. Unless by treat they mean a reason to sue. :icon_tong

    Getting married in uniform?

What do I think of getting married in uniform? I think a guy should DEFINITELY get married in uniform. It's just so classy. Every guy I know who is in the military got married in his uniform. As far as a girl goes though, I wouldn't trade a beautiful wedding gown for a uniform.... most...

Giving up your first class seat?

That's awesome. I think it's really great when civilians give up airplane seats or buy a round of drinks for our soldiers. It's nice to see civilians sacrifice a little to thank our soldiers who sacrifice so much.

What do we wear at OCS

Yoga has definitely been added to the program, in the SUYA... you just lay out your yoga mat and you're cushioned by all of the soft, dry sand. The DI throws on some Enya and I hear it's quite peaceful.

What do we wear at OCS

Yeah, he's right on the money here. Watson is by far the teddy bear. I mean, this picture may make him look like he's mean, but he was really just lecturing a Poopie for not taking a deep, introspective look at his emotional uniqueness, self-worth and beauty. Seriously.

what does it take to get a 35 on OAR?

I don't think an OAR of 35 is competitive at all really... I've heard that you need at least a 55 to begin to be competitive.... especially if your GPA is low. I'd aim high if I were you and study my tail off. Good luck in your endeavor!
  38. crysmc

    Application question-due tomorrow!!

I've heard the same thing... they don't sit there and count out all of the words. However, they do expect you to be pretty clear-cut on your reasons (according to the OSO) and you won't earn any brownie points the more you write. I'd be concise, honest and definitely have a professor proofread it.
  39. crysmc

    Thanks alot fellas....

John~ I hope you come back to at least read this... I don't think you should give up. Talk to a different recruiter and talk to all of the branches to see if you could be competitive. I think your recruiter is being pretty rash and I would at least try . Don't give up!

New to all: Need all information.

If you're still in Austin, TX, I can give you the names of an outstanding Marine recruiter & a Navy recruiter. They're the ones that work at the UT campus and are both upfront & informative. Good guys. Anyhow, let me know if you'd like their names.

Importance of Sports for BDCP App

I know 4 people who have gotten into the BDCP program. None of them were involved in any sort of college sports. They were all in good physical health though... all worked out and took care of themselves. And more importantly... they all had good grades. :)

    Headed to Dine-Out June 4th?

Awww, that's too bad! There's a site www.fotki.com that will allow you to create a new account for free. I know they limit the space that free accounts get, but maybe it would still be enough space to put up those pics. :) Then you could just link the address.

Your chances are....(penalty box for those who can't help asking about their chances)

surfinillini~ They seem to be pretty lenient about minor ticket sort of stuff. Two people I knew, who were both accepted had some prior legal trouble. One had a couple of speeding tickets and a ticket (that was dismissed I think) for urinating in public. The other guy had something minor...
