Just talked to a friend that graduated from OCS a few weeks ago. He said color of shoes doesn't matter at all (verified by my recruiter). I'm getting new ones to break in a coupla weeks before I ship so they will last all through OCS so I can keep my fitted ones from the NEX shiny and new for inspections

True, color doesn't matter. However, they expect your shoes to be used but clean (not brand new looking) for inspections. A second pair is very nice to have for those days when your first pair gets all wet, muddy, or otherwise.

Wouldn't shoes that are 'brand new-looking' be as close to perfect as possible, which is the entire reason for inspection?

I think he meant that the shoes don't have to be brand new looking in order to pass inspection, just clean.

I know it's now less than 2 weeks before class 20-07 reports...but I'm hoping some of you might still be looking at this thread. Was anyone planning on meeting up if they are down in Pensacola a couple days early?

I think that would be a great idea. I'm not familiar with the area at all, so I don't know of a place to meet. Maybe we could all exchange phone numbers or something. Anyone know of a good place to meet? I'll be getting to Pensacola on the 27th.
