There are very few slots open to Reservists (1835's) for the NIOBC Active Duty Course. Like less than five per course and maybe five per year. Even when folks are willing to do the school - the slots are not easy to get and held like a poker hand. I've yet to see a reservist that has asked for the active duty school get a seat.
We had two reservists in my NIOBC class. They were able to get signatures on their PQS while going through school while the other (active duty) students had to wait until they showed up to their first duty station.

That must have been annoying. I know the school holds a few slots open for reservist and I've seen tons of people ask to go but I've yet to see someone get a spot.

I was side lined for the two week virtual NIOBC running right now - I have a few friends that got slots - half the course has no prior intel experience and some haven't even been to ODS - I am so pissed that I was not allowed to sit in on that course right now.

I'll get over it - I've had a good year with the Navy this year - but the murkiness with training, PQS, and who gets to slip by and who gets the stiff arm is more glaringly obvious to me in the last year or so than at any point in my career with the Navy.

Really? This would surprise me due to MAS codes. Stranger things happen, though.
Yes - one from my unit actually. A chief that just made CWO and already went to his version of ODS and myself - a former IS1 that has also completed ODS were denied seats and told that we lacked intel credit. The ENS that hasn't gone to ODS has no prior service and no intel background either. Obviously - I'm happy for him but it pissed me off that I can't get a break out of those guys.
