As a guy with a professional looking beard I find the military's ban on beards to be silly.

Yep. This guy must have been a total dirtbag, even if he was a published author and President of the Naval War College.

So was this JO, even if he did become Admiral of the Navy later after kicking the crap out of the Spanish at Manila Bay.

Fought in the Civil War, second Admiral in the history of the Navy . . . but obviously a total dirtbag, because look at his face.
