Would have thought that no doors would be the way to go when flying over water, and the temperature made it bearable. It would seem to make egress go much quicker in the event of an emergency.

If you plan to ditch over the water, you are supposed to open the back doors and jettison the front windows to aid with egress. It helps by equalizing the water pressure inside the cabin so you can get the F out, otherwise, you are trying to push a door against a wall of water.

Serious question: when would ops call for taking off the front doors? Not intuitive to an outsider...

Allows better scan of drift cues when doing brownout landings, both day and night. Lateral drift down low can result in rollover on touchdown.

Cool that 101 is finally getting into the action... Any reason why the F-35 pilots are putting both hands on the towel racks vice just your stick hand in the Hornet?
