22 FEB 2016 SUPPLY CORPS BOARD

I guess we can assume we'll hear nothing this week then!
I really need to find something to distract me from this waiting game! Other than waiting for the board result, how's life treating you everybody!? I am currently working as a part time bank teller. If the Navy turns down my packet, I am planning to go back to insurance field. But in the long run I would like to pursue a career in diplomacy... although I have no clear idea how/when I will get there.

In case you are bored, I recommend you to watch the movie trailer for 'Sausage Party' to brighten your day.

Keeping yourself distracted can be tough, especially for AD guys like myself!

Overall though, I can't complain about life in general. I'm happy and healthy, my family is happy and healthy, and that's all I can really ask for.

As for what I do to "stay busy", SH's (Ships Servicemen for you non-prior types) actually work for Sales Officers by running the Ship Store, vending, barbershop, and bulk laundry onboard the ship. I'm "fortunate" enough to be doing in-rate work while on my shore duty as NALF San Clemente Island has a "Ship Store" of sorts (of which I'm currently our recordskeeper). The unfortunate part of this duty is that it's remote and I'm literally 80 miles off the coast of SoCal for about half the month, every month. So long story short, being stuck at work without actually being underway on a ship can keep me distracted at times.

And I just watched the "Sausage Party" trailer for the first time. Maybe it's because I'm not fully awake @ 0615, but I didn't laugh as much as I thought I would.

Wow I remember randomly looking into San Clemente Island and wondered what people do there. So...it sounds like you are technically stuck at a Naval Base every half the month away from civilization and they still call it shore duty!

Yeah, it used to be type 3 sea duty but they took that away long before I got here!

The island itself is mainly used as a remote landing field for touch and go's and a small corner is used for dummy rounds coming from aircraft and ships to get their certs. It's also used for BUDS training.
