Once a kit has been Ord-Pro is has been deemed free of errors and is ready to be looked at by the DCO panel.

Awesome! This has been a long journey. I have one shot at this, maybe two, until I age out. Now to sit back and hope the DCO panel sees promise for an old guy to continue to serve...
Thanks so much for the info HR, and best of luck to all that make it to the board.

I've posted this on another thread but it bears repeating. Regarding Non-Medical DCO Programs, that is General Officer DCO programs, if you want to be able to qualify for a non-regular retirement by age 62 you must commission by your 42nd birthday. You must be able to accumulate 20 credible years of reserve service by your 62nd birthday. The 62nd birthday maximum is stipulated by title X. However, each program authorization for each reserve program allows for members over age 42 to apply. If recommended by the professional review board, that is the de facto age "waiver". You must annotate that you acknowledge that you may not be able to accumulate 20 credible years of service by yours 62nd birthday by signing the Maximum Age Statement of Understanding. Bottom line is that members over age 42 can apply and they do get recommended for a Reserve Commission. Over the past few years I signed sever final select letters for members over the age of 42 when I was at CNRC HQ.

I follow you on this forum, so I saw the post previously. I am prior service (8 years active, 4 years ARNG). I just turned 49. I can commission up to age 50, according to regs, so long as I can make 20 by age 62. Whats interesting here is that, based on research I have done, should I be selected, I will likely be the oldest 01 in the Navy. I am in excellent physical condition and have extensive executive level business management and leadership stats - just hoping the panel sees that and decides I am an asset...

Thanks for the update. Any idea what they are looking for specifically in this group of 16-20? Also, why not just postpone again and roll everyone into the board summer 2016?

It seems the panel never divulges what/who they are looking for. I always get the answer, "the whole package", whatever that means. Good luck to everyone. Time for the long wait...

They have a standard blurb they put out each board, the best you can do is look at what the majority of people selected have had and hope you have that.

Start by looking at the SC Program Authorization (PA). They list the minimums a member must have in order to submit an application. I just left NRC HQ so I will contact a few folks involved in the actual board process to get some information on what they deem as competitive. More to follow soon.

thanks again. i only pose the question because it seems that with such high numbers already in the supply corps, and the board only looking to take 16-20, they are not looking to add to the general population, but looking for specific areas (logistics, contracting, supply chain), but again, i know nothing about this. I greatly appreciate your insight on this.

Here is what the SC DCO Community is looking for in its applicants:
interested in folks with Business or STEM degrees. Meaningful business related work in the civilian sector. Masters degrees are a huge plus and often deciding factor (MBA). Contracting back grounds are view very favorably, DAWIA certifications, etc. Prior enlisted time is viewed favorably but not imperative. The PA gives the basics, the board president will often give further guidance.

Regarding the DAWIA certifications, the SC community has AQC billets ( Acquisition) that only can be filled by experienced and qualified personnel (not able to earn in the Reserves)...so generally civilian government workers are the best candidates to fill these billets.

This link gives a good community brief about the community:http://scnewsltr.dodlive.mil/2014/03/10/a-community-overview-the-navy-reserve-supply-corps/

Hope that helps.

Thank for the Guidance HR:

I submitted my package for this board back in April. I feel I have a very good shot. I was prior active duty for 12 years and now in the reserves as an LS2 (SW/AW). EP Evals. I went to Millington, TN to do interviews from Supply Corps Officers from Pers 4412. Overall I have 3/O-5 Supply Officer Interviews, 3/O-6 Supply Officer Interviews, 1/O-7 Pilot, and 1 US Congressman Endorsement. I have my Bachelors in Business Administration, Masters in Homeland Security, and working on my MBA as we speak. All my recommendations were all Outstanding's with 10's. At my civilian job I am a Maintenance/Supply Manager and I deal a lot with contracting also.

Am I pretty competitive?

Nice application, there will be a lot of competition at these boards, good luck and keep pushing toward that MBA.

Tim,
I would say that you have a competitive application. Smart move traveling to Millington for your interviews. Do you have any DAWIA certifications contracting or acquisition certifications? Those are a huge plus. Overall I would say that you stand an excellent chance of being recommended.

would my package be competitive? I have worked in contracting for 5 years, am a warranted contracting officer, DAWIA Level III certified in contracting, and will be done with my MBA in August, GPA 3.4. I'm 27 non-prior service.

Getting closer. I believe the cutoff date for kit submission is 17 June, 2015. It would be interesting to know how many kits go before the board. SuperHumanResources had said that there were 140 kits already submitted, and that was a couple weeks back.
With only 16-20 slots, this is a very competitive board! Good luck to everyone.
