The numbers are also lower because of the new protocol that candidates have to do MEPS before the board. They were having an small issue with ppl getting selected an then being medically DQ'd. The LONE IP select did come out of my NRD.

That's what my NRD told me. That they started requiring people do their medical portion prior due to people being medically dq'd after selection.

With the selection rate being "higher"...I wonder what I really need to do to get selected. Oh well....persistence pays off!

no - he just said 30+ got kicked out. For example, he originally told me that he sent like 12 packages out of his NRD. But when he gave me the results he told me 3/5 got selected from his NRD. So 7 packages didn't even get in the board. My guess is it was a policy change that recruiters didn't have enough time to fix. For instance, in the Sept 14 board, they changed to policy in like july before the board that all candidates had to have "official transcripts." So my copies they had on file got kicked out in august. I had two weeks to get official transcripts before the deadline. If a recruiter didn't catch that before the deadline, it would have been too late. (maybe the meps thing... just conjecture) That means there will be 30 more packages in sept..... ha.

Those are things that should have been caught at the NRD and many have policies that prevented that, the easiest method was to have transcripts printed at the NRD and have the recruiter stamp and sign them certified to be a true copy.

FYI, DAS will often post the selection info as far as sent to board/selected so look for his post.
 
I got some new info:
The IDC Board has begun capping the number of packages it reviews at each Board. Many IDC DIRCOM packages submitted prior to the 25 Feb 15 deadline were 100% complete (not "kicked out" for any deficiency) but since they arrived after the Mar 15 cap limit was reached, those packages will be automatically rolled to the Sep 15 IDC Board.

Also, looks like the Mar 15 selection totals by designator are:
1805: 1
1815: 4
1825: 3
1835: 42

Someone correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.

Hair Worriors, your info may be correct but my recruiter asked for an extension on my package because my MEPS PQ had not came back yet, I guess bc of my over 40 and have to do extra blood work and so on... I guess my package was 3 day to 5 days late.
 
This was my first time up and I had no idea that there was a time when MEPS could be done after selection, which I would've preferred. I had to go to MEPS on 3 different occasions and each time I died a little inside. It is impossible to get out of there in less than 3 hours...even if you just need to step on a scale. Dealing with all the young kids and the impatient staff also wasn't easy. I guess I forgot what it was like when I went through MEPS prior to enlistment in 2000.

My package almost didnt make it to the board in time because of a holdup with paperwork at MEPS...so while it makes since from the USN point of view to get people medically cleared before each board...I'd prefer it the other way around.

1. I was selected for IW and don't have any certs
2. My leadership experience was made evident in my resume, which highlighted the number of people (MIL/CIV/CONT) that I manage and examples of how I've led effectively. I also touched on leadership in my statement. Basically, that I want to use all the leadership experience that I've developed as a civilian...to lead junior sailors as an IW officer.
3. My motivational statement was VERY short....I don't think I took up half the character limit. I figured it was better to be concise...then pad it with extra stuff just to hit the limit.
4. 3 page resume. I figured that I couldn't afford to cut out key experience

I basically function as a senior IW officer in my current work role with the DOD, which I'm sure helped me when they noted my responsibilities in my resume. Plus, I'm currently a GS-13 (O-4 equivalent) as a DOD civilian...which probably helped my cause and made up for the fact that I don't have graduate degree or STEM degree. Just speculating...

I wish I understood why I wasn't selected or at least receive from feedback. I resume is very technical vs the ASPR which had my motivation statement and in the "other" section I put all my leadership experience for everything that I have been a POC for the last few years for the local community. Your civilian experience probably gave you a leg up on everyone else.

Maybe I'm just being selfish, but I feel as though my package was very strong, but the maybe the information was expressed in the package in the correct locations. But who knows. I will focus on highlighting my leadership experience to show that I'm not just a "rookie" I was told my package was submitted....but maybe it was one of the many ones that didn't make the cut due to the quota being capped.
When was your package submitted?

If I were you...I'd get confirmation from your recruiter or NRD. If you werent selected bc your package never made it to the board....you may not need to change anything for the September board.

My package was way late....I'm think 2-3 days before the deadline of late (23rd?) February

There was a time when this was tried before, if failed miserably, applications were rolled and then more were rolled, then you have form changes and applications get rejected, big mess.
 
I may have flat out lucked out regarding the MEPS requirement... I was told on several occassions that because of the sheer number of applicants that they wait until AFTER the national board selection to send folks for medical screenings... I was supposed to have been submitted in September but my recruiter/processor dropped the ball and my package was "missed". I had spent 9 "high mileage" years in the Marine Corps prior to getting out 9 years ago... When I was told I had to wait for submission to the March board I pushed hard to be able to knock out my medical screening... granted in the capital region I use Bethesda National Medical Center and not a MEPS. I was worried about and was correct that it would take me some time to get all of my documents and appointments in order to get medical cleared and it was nearly 3 months. Had I waited until I was selected, I probably wouldn't have had it all done in time for swear in/commission would have further delayed myself.

This was my first time on the board being pretty "long in the tooth" at 36 so I wanted to make sure I could pass the physical first... I feel fortunate to have been selected and wonder if I hadn't pushed for my medical screening in light of not being submitted this past fall, if my package would have gotten kicked too?
 
I'm obviously new here, so as I don't know what the F I'm talking about, have a few questions for the DCO process vets.

Just had my first DCO (1835) interview for the September (?) board. Three interviews, one was the pre-screen security with the JRIC CPO, one with the OPSO (full active duty LCDR), and one with the board (2 CDRs, 1 LCDR-JRIC OIC). The OPSO was really pushing me hard before the interview to consider going straight active through full OCS and quoted a "less than 10% DCO selection rate for intel" figure as the lynchpin for his side of the pre-screen interview.

Everything I've ever seen in terms of data (some of it here) has put intel selections in the IDC the last 5 years or so at between 20-30%, though I've never seen the data parsed out to show how many applicants there are per field to check the data, how many are active, etc. I could be totally wrong on that, though. Also, he said said DCO was strictly a reserve thing. That it false, yes? I get the sales job to go active vs. reserve (as I've been in the Navy twice before on active duty), but he more or less stated that the panel was going to pump up my chances and to not really listen to that.

The panel confirmed how competitive the field was, but they didn't push the same way at all towards active duty vs. reserve, they only probed to see if I was really committed by asking if I would apply again if denied and whether I'd consider an enlisted role while I work the angles (which I definitely will).

I get that it's highly competitive and that I have a contested 3 point shot at the buzzer to get selected, but I left feeling like I did really well with the panel and got neural marketed for active duty by the OPSO. If anybody has anything on any portion of the above, I appreciate it. Good luck to anybody else that's interviewing for the next cycle, and if we don't make it, just get more competitive and bug the shit out of them until they say "yes".
