I wouldn't think negative just yet. I talked to my recruiter today and he really didn't know. ..maybe yours is in the same boat! I'm planning for the best! Plus, we have only heard from like 3 selects.... i would expect more ppl would be in this board. We information warfare applicants - how can you not find this site! Ha

I didn't find out from my recruiter, but his upper management which is a civilian who actually puts the final packages together for the final touches... The recruiter just asked me for the info. This was for myself it may be different at other NRD,s

Congrats to all selected.

I have not received anything official, so I am assuming the worst. I would assume that if I was selected, I would have a phone call from an excited recruiter but might be waiting to give me the bad news. But to be honest, I would rather know than wait any longer. Oh well, time to prepare for the next board. I already know how to improve my package...I'll have to be more specific about my leadership experience and have more LOR's.

I am prior service as well.

The civilian is not upper mgt, the civilian that puts the application together and sends it up is actually a fairly low paid civilian position, in fact it is one of the lowest paid civilian positions at the NRD.

Spot on...the Department of Navy civilian that built my package is a GS-5. Its hard to find a DOD civilian that low of pay grade where I work.

I know your pain with a bunch of 17-19 ur olds. I'm 40 and thinking when I was 23 going through this I still thought I was old ... What are thinking!

Unless he is using this as a stepping stone position or has no motivation to do anything else that is kind of sad, I know what a processor makes and the trainee's just out of HS make more than a processor makes, crap I know guys at Home Depot that make more than a processor.

However my gas tank is empty after 20 years in the USN/USNR, things happen for a cause and reason.
For the record I'm not bitter or mad, perhaps a little disappointed.
Congratulations to those who got it. Please do great things in the Navy and mentor the Jr personnel...inspire them to follow your steps, they are the future of our Navy.
So this is it for me gents, today I signed my retirement letter (I have 20 years in the USN/USNR), talked to my CMD, I'm done.
But please don't feel sorry for me, I have a very good life (personal and professional) so I'm ready to move on and close this chapter.
Now I have to figure out where to put my future shadow box

CoolBreeze-- what was your first choice IP... With your back ground I would sit back and hope for the best, it is nerve racking but man those are excellent... Ill take it that you had a very strong Motivational Statement why the Navy needs you???

IW was actually my first choice as I enjoy the crypto side and on my civilian side I've been working towards more of a Cyber Security Engineer career; however, I want to ensure that I understand everything as a Sys Admin so that I'm a better Cyber Engineer. I'm been afforded the opportunity to do both since the contract hasn't been able to hire someone for that position (working both jobs)

Yes, I did have a strong motivational statement. I actually wrote it several times...I'm a perfectionist lol. I incorporated my leadership experience, why I wanted to become an officer, etc

Seems like the older you are, the better chances you have due to having at least 10 years of experience.

i did not get selected. 42 out of only 120 did get selected. That's the highest percentage in a while. My recruiter said 30+ packages did not actually go to board because of a snafu right at the end. The numbers are also lower because of the new protocol that candidates have to do MEPS before the board. They were having an small issue with ppl getting selected an then being medically DQ'd. The LONE IP select did come out of my NRD.
