"The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration"

The annual EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshow will be July 25 - 31, 2011

There will be an official recognition of the Centennial of Naval Aviation, with the largest collection of airworthy naval aircraft spanning all eras.

It's a real privilege to have my documentary film "Pappy Boyington Field" showing at the Skyscape Theater during the airshow:

Check it out if you're attending.

This year will be the first time since 2002 that I've missed Oshkosh. But I'll look for your video.

It's AirVenture week. "Pappy Boyington Field" has already had one showing this weekend, and a couple more scheduled this week. Check it out if you're in Oshkosh.

I'll be in Vietnam, probably flying. Is my excuse valid?
Valid.
And unique.
Hard to think of a good comeback or argument.

I'm in. I'll have one of the two TW-5 T-6's. It sounds like we'll be taking Big Bird and one of the standard orange and whites.

Out of curiosity, what are you doing for lodging? When I was set to go a few years ago (handed off a "PPR" from another IP), the EAA website basically said that show participants would need to crash in someone's home or stay at the local dorms (which weren't air conditioned...in the summer). The plan kind of fell apart after that. I grew up going to multiple Sun 'n Funs, so it was a little disappointing, but I made up for it by having a weekend off...

I think they're planning on putting us up in the dorms. I'm looking forward to it anyway, even without air conditioning.

At least they're working with you. There didn't seem like there was much support when I was trying to set it up (which is odd for EAA or an airshow in general), so that was another reason why I lost motivation.
