Any possibility of them boarding NFOs with the July 2012 Pilot board? or will it be ONLY pilot applicants looked at that month?

Also, do you have any insider knowledge on why so many board cancellations? It seemed that Supply had the most need due to the amount of boards they were holding.

Yes, when dealing with boards if you see Pilot it will include NFO and SWO, but that doesn't mean they have to pick any.

Cancelled because of filling up and goal reductions, they always over select since people always drop due to medical and what, however sometimes many are fully qualified.

In many cases they will schedule many boards, then cancel when they figure out what is going on.

If you qualify for more than Supply but in for anything your qualify for.

Chief, I am an LS2 so I really want to be in the Supply Corps but now I PCS next month so I will put my reconsideration package on my next Command.

NavyOffRec,

I have a couple of questions for you if it's alright:

1. Who sits on these selection boards? I mean what paygrade, designation (is it only officers from the community the board is convening for), and how many members on the board?

2. How heavily is active duty taken into consideration? My package is not extremely strong, based on what I have read from other applicants on here but I was somewhat forced to submit it now as Millington told me this is the last SNA board for the year.

3. Do you know how many billets they have open for the April 16th board for SNA/NFO/SWO?

4. How much weight does previous applications hold? This is my first time applying for OCS but I applied for STA-21 for FY10. I have since graduated with my BA and am pursuing a commission via OCS.

I am turning 28 in July and have put in for SNA/NFO/SWO. I have my waiver for SNA and NFO and this is probably my last chance to be accepted and actually be commissioned by 29. I have addressed that in my package and am just wondering if that holds any weight when considering applicants?

I appreciate any insight you can give me. Thanks.

1. Depends on the boards, PILOT/NFO/SWO can be any 3 officer but chaired by a Capt. CEC are CEC officers, IDC are IDC officer, Supply are Supply officers.
2. not very, it is the evals and interview appraisals that are looked at, in general only IDC seems to select heavy numbers of active duty. The was the last board for the FY, they just added on last week.
3. we were told expect about a 35% selection rate.
4. depends, a bad GPA is a bad GPA no matter how many times you apply, but a good application that just misses the cutoff may get the nod for persistance, all really depend on the board members at the time.

for age they don't care, it is about the best candidate.

NavyOffRec,

Good evening, I just had a quick question about the Pilot July 2012 board. I finish my degree in 5 weeks and was wondering when the application deadline is for the July 2012 board? Thank you in advance.

NavyOFFRec,
Would you know the date of April SWO board and how many prospective SWO spots are vacant? Also, I appreciate your help that you provide to the shipmates.
