I didn't do it. Everyone got rated alphabetically. If the SPC wanted dirt he should have been there to see it himself. My SPC didn't like me, I still made it to primary.

And how does a TBS Lt know what a good or bad Marine is?
Because they aren't complete idiots.
Because they will need to when they write fitreps in a few months when they finish MOS school.
Need any more reasons?

Do you also think priors are the only competent Lt's?

I tend to agree with Swanee about peer evals. I'm pretty an RS would avoid using "backbiter", or "gossip", or any of the other negative words they tell us to use when evaluating our peers.

Hardly.

They aren't rating how good of a Marine someone is, they are rating how good or bad of a TBS Lt someone is. And a good TBS Lt spends his Sundays shining his rank, ironing his cammies and rolling his sleeves. A good TBS Lt never talks about flight school because chances are he's going to fail out anyway. No shit, I remember being told "about 60% of you won't make it to a cockpit (in the fleet) so pay attention now". If that's the only reason you can come up with to for air contracts to need TBS then something is wrong. A good TBS Lt smartly tucks his polo shirt into his dockers and always has a fresh high and tight.

I got shit on by my SPC and some of those "awesome priors" in my platoon at TBS because I have a low reg haircut, wore jeans or shorts (no jorts!) and a collared shirt (with a flat hem so it wasn't supposed to be tucked in), and spent the weekends with my wife rather than PTing or studying with them on the weekends. I didn't devote myself to TBS 24/7.

So does a TBS Lt know what a good Marine is? Okay, sure. But most aren't evaluating you on how good of a Marine you are, but by what kind of cookie cutter TBS Lt you are. I guess I wasn't a very good one. Does that make me a bad Marine?

Good: $4 40 oz Blue moons or imports at the Hawk.

Bad: Renaming the "Hawk" the "C@ck" because of the lack of females.

I think we all know who the dirtbags and quality officers were at TBS. Sounds like you are a little bitter from your personal experience. Most of the guys I knew who graduated at the top of the company or platoon deserved it. I think most guys were pretty accurate with peer evals. OCS, that's another story.

That number may not be 60%, but its high.

I would love to hear more about your hairstyle and wardrobe, but I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Meh, me personally I'm not bitter,.... It just seems that most top performers had a d*ck shoved halfway down their throats, always bullsh*ttin with the SPC and trying to become drinking buddies with the CO. You could tell who the SPC's favorites were and in a system such as this, that is unacceptable... also you could always tell when spear evals were coming around, because some people started doing more "favors". LOL who the f*ck volunteers for AOR's??? Oh wait peer rankings are next week.

TBS is great at introducing the basics... but all you have to do is "fake" the funk to do well there and game the system... by following as Swanee said a cookie cutter mold... and to those who genuinely wear high and tights 24/7 and sing the MC hymn before sleeping, well they will need therapy when they get out because they wont be able to cope with civilian life, the Marine Corps is all that defines them....

A quality officer in my opinion is one that can stand and challenge when necessary... even if that may destroy his career, because this officer usually has the best interest of his troops and ultimately the mission at heart.... How can you gauge this at TBS? You can't... Then you have the head bobbing, cocksucking, figureheads who will step on anybody even their own people because they are trying to get ahead. This behavior is easily spotted in TBS and there is an interesting correlation, most of them are in the top 20% and hold most of the billets throughout the POI....

Oh wait I forgot to mention another reason to fake the funk.... MOS MOS MOS... if you dont do well there you don't get what YOU want.... there is a reason there is a huge drop in motivation after FEX 3 any guesses as to why?

i remember zipping up 95 with our cars in fire team formation, alternately forming a wedge, etc. with arm signals out our respective windows, heading for g -town,and alex old town, after sessions in the Hawkin's room, way back in '83,when IOC didn't even have its own building yet,and we wore steel pots, and carried .45's,ahhh the Old Corps !!!

I was in Charlie Co 1983.

Worst-getting the walleye from Capt "E-TOOL" Eng during tactics class. When that dude said "stand up Lt!" two Lts always jumped to their feet.

Maybe it's a difference in culture but the one you are describing is typically ranked towards the bottom over here. Ironically, they are the ones who give me the stink-eye when I roll back from DC in the morning with a slight lean in my step.

Lol good it should remain that way, I hope there really is no one in my company that sings the MC hymn every night before bed... there are a few that worry me though... What I was illustrating is that TBS is no where near the perfect model to judge leadership... it does an OK job but there are so many factors and so much gained from being ranked high. I just picture TBS a little different if everyone had their MOS's going in.... I dont think people would be half as frantic to impress.... my own roommate confessed that he would bullshit and have much more fun if he was "lucky" like us air contracts and knew his MOS.

Difference in culture? Based on your locations I'd say you're both at the same place at the same time.
