President Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

You know who actually votes on this thing, right?
The Nobel Prize for Peace is an extension of the Norwegian government .....a socialist nation to the core. The members are all officials at some level of the Norwegian government.
It is nothing more than an ad hoc endorsement for socialism by socialists. They are hoping to steer and continue to influence him toward their causes and desired outcomes.
Winning a "Nobel Prize" simply does not mean what it used to. It has not for a long time. When a career terrorist can win a prize for peace, you loose all credibility.
Next thing you know, I will be given an award for liberal thought and political correctness.
When was the last time it was awarded to encourage the recipient to "keep up the good work?"

A significant gesture and message would have been to decline acceptance and to say I hope to meet your expectations.

Obama now joins Yasser "drive Israel into the sea" Arafat (1994), Kofi "Oil-for-Food" Annan (2001), as well as other completely worthless people such as Jimmy Carter (2002) and Al "false hysteria and hypocrisy is more deserving of the Nobel Prize than a woman who hid Jews in her house during WWII" Gore (2007). I predict either Castro or even Osama bin Laden himself will win 2010.
I realize it's hard to read entire news articles, but maybe you missed the part - at the beginning - where it's explained that the chair of the committed that awards the prize is putting forth those points. The AP is reporting on them.
That may yet come to pass.

Seriously though, field-specific Nobel Prizes are pretty legit.
