Got one ride in the 38 up in Columbus while instructing in the Goshawk... not in the least bit impressed, it goes real fast in a straight line, buffets at 3g at 400 knots (or something close to that) and looks like the T-2 on the inside (besides some recockulously huge color MFD thingy they tried to slap in there). I submit that going on a tracom tour outside navy channels in the tactical realm would be interesting on one hand, but likened to chopping your crank off for either follow on orders or any career aspirations. If one doesn't like the BS the pointy nosed hook going fleet deals out, then the tracom is a great place to recharge, fly your ass off, and also shine if you want to. NO 2 hour briefs for .9 logged to 3 hour SFWT assmunch debrief. 5 minute conduct brief for a 1.1 SOLO logged to a 10 minute admin debrief on ACM leads (more if you want to help out the stud with pointers from lead perspective). 2100 hours in 4.5 years there, all while LSOing and drinking my face off. Good life.
