The CO called our office today and of course I'm quick for the phones these days. He says, "Petty Officer Fox, this is the skipper! Congratulations!" At this point I'm thinking I was selected so I'm getting excited. But, NO. Our District is the Recruiting District of the Year. Don't get me wrong, that's great news, but we already knew that. I'm still trying to get my heart rate back to normal. I pretty sure he did it on purpose. I hate this game, but I know I'll never stop playing.

If selected, we're not eligible for a re-enlistment bonus, however nowhere do I see that we are ineligible to STAR re-enlist for advanced paygrade. Does anyone have any instruction governing this? Everything iive seen has been vague and said you must re-enlist to have enough time to complete the program, and you can't get a bonus, but I haven't seen anything covering STAR re-enlistment.

I've brought this up a couple of times over thepast two years to different people, including a CCC, and most said things along the line of "why would the Navy promote you to E-5 if you're just going to become an officer?" but nobody was ever able to point me to an instruction that laid it out one way or another. I understand the sentiment, but if there's nothing that says i CANT (if selected) STAR re-enlist, thats worth knowing.

wouldnt count on it. every year when the chiefs exam comes out even a day late, that is the same damn excuse tossed out there," oh, the admiral is on leave", trust me, there is someone there to do his duty while he is out, or better yet, given technology in this day of age, im pretty sure he doesnt need to be at said desk to sign away. good luck everyone, dont count on everything your CCC says.

Im optimistic as hell, this whole process is draining after the several months of prep getting ready, and then finally sending it in only to have to wait in angonizing pain each day that passes hoping a small word document hits the internet on one of the sources. I'm still going to keep trying to break my F5 key until that fateful day comes where either the process is rewarded or starts over.

haha my relaxation is oozing through the computer. i jumped on xbox to help take my mind off of it. i have never had a good amount patience in these types of things, im very anxious to just get going on something. it doesnt help that im on the computer for the majority of my work day with several times of nothing going on, so checking up on it is just natural.

I got my acceptance letter to Purdue's Nursing Program today, one of my top 3 choices...way earlier than anticipated...now I wish I could find out if it is all for nothing. Nursing is different because they have all kinds of prerequisites, different for each program, of course. Different deadlines, most don't even admit you until you are a junior, it is a pain. I emailed Ed about a month ago asking for advice on how to handle all the different requirements and deadlines and his response was, he had no advice, nursing program applicants are a different breed and require alot of persistence to get all of the stars to align...sigh

I had to apply to 2 programs already because their deadline for Fall 2010 was October 15th...waste of $100?? I hope not!

So I am particularly anxious to get this started!

Yeah, no BS, there is this machine called an auto pen. It's a machine that actually holds a pen and writes a programmed signature. Therefore, a person actually "did" sign it and it wasn't a photocopy. It sounds corny as hell, but it does exist. I worked at a command for some Army Generals and they all had them. Imagine if they had to physically sign everything that came across their desk. That excuse, "waiting on the Admiral's signature is no longer valid," unless the Navy for some reason cannot afford them...
