Is he really nose high, or am I looking at it wrong?
Each aircraft's on-speed attitude is different. Prowlers, for example, are in a more "nose high" attitude than a hornet is.

He is showing a green chevron on his approach indexer, so he is at least a little more nose up than he should be.

Yes if you are in a squadron. When I was on a ship it was just general questions about all the aircraft in the wing.
