Best places to wear a uniform...

I just think it's sad for someone to start a thread asking how to use their uniform to get women. That's all. I agree that you all have worked a lot harder to get into your uniform.. I agree with that a 100%. I am not saying you don't deserve any "perks." I am just saying I think it's sad for someone to start a thread on how to use their uniform to get those perks.
Jen, you have a point, and I didn't mean for this to be a "pile on the wife/GF for making a post in the public forums"... I guess, even re-reading the first post, that I didn't take this thread that way. Especially in light of how the poster asked to keep it "friendly"... And the majority of the responses have been involved with the public taking care of the military while we are dressed in our best.

I am done with this thread.. no more posts or opinions from me.
As for the brother husband comment, my husband is wonderful.

The thread was started with the intention of getting women.
"locals being receptive to guys in uniform"
That's what I was refering to. If you want to use your uniform to get a drink.. by all means.

I'm over 100% sure you were reading WAY too far into that. "locals being receptive to guys in uniform" = "people being receptive to the military" NOT "townie chicks that want to bang male marines and sailors".

This is such a sad post. That's all I have to say. Pick a girl.. stick with her. Don't use your uniform to get as many as you can.

Is this some kind of sick joke? Don't make me angry...you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

Jen,
You need to chill. I get the feeling that this kind of talk worries you because you're separated from your husband. If so, you need to learn to cope, fast. You're going to be away from each other a lot if he makes it through his training. If you can't deal with a few weeks while he's at OCS, good luck with deployment.

(Trying to get this back on track...)

My husband wore his uniform the night he proposed to me. He took me to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in Houston, TX. Granted, it was September 11 (the ring wasn't ready until the 10th and he really wanted his "fiancee" to pin his wings on 6 days later, so he didn't have any other options), but he ended up not paying for a thing that night. We had multiple people buy us drinks in the bar area while waiting for our table. At the end of the meal, we found out that an anonymous person had already picked up the bill (which we estimated to be around $300) before my husband ever proposed. Once he proposed, it was chaos with all of the tables around us trying to pay. One table sent over a bottle of Dom Periginon. Another offered to get us a limo but we already had one.

Nice story Kathy...Just to clarify what I thought this was about...

St. Patty's in Newport is a giant beer/alcohol fest...I went during NSI and while I'm sure that there was lots of picking up the opposite sex going on...I was married and went to have a good time with my buds and the people who were there. (Basically all of New England) What made it amazing is that all the locals took such good care of us. Parade ended in the morning and we (about 20 of us) drank and ate until the wee hours all over downtown for free. It was an amazingly friendly place and an awesome time in uniform.

I just read this post for the first time. I think that it includes all kinds of things in it. I never got the impression that it was about how to pick up women, though for the single guys, that's good information to know. For us married men, we want to know where we can take our wives out in our uniforms and get better service or perhaps have someone offer to pick up the tab for us. No one has been sharing any "Penthouse" stories here or anything remotely close. My wife got the same impression about the thread. It sounds like Jen may be a little insecure about what her husband does while out in uniform.

On the subject of the forum, one word: Texas. Especially if you're not someplace close to a base (i.e. Fort Worth). The people there are extremely friendly to military personnel and occasionally I have had my dinner tab picked up by either the restaurant or by other guests while in my whites. Plus, you can all but forget having to wait for a table in some places.

Another place that I've found to be really military friendly (which surprises me because usually places that have bases nearby are not) is San Diego. Granted, I haven't been here too long so I'm sure some would disagree with me, but so far, it seems to be very nice here.

I'll definitely back up Newport... Probably one of the highlights of my 23 years on this earth. I actually ended up at a HUGE fireman/policman party in some guys yard. Kilts, pipes, drums, beer, it was amazing... And I ended up getting fried for appearing in the local paper marching later in the day with the pirates carrying a blunderbuss (which they let me fire).

Concur with San Diego, JAX as well - both extremely military friendly. What I want to know is who are all these people going out to dinner in their uniforms? I can understand while on liberty during OCS, or for dinings out, but come on, folks. Uniforms should be worn at work. If you wanna dress up for dinner, a tie and jacket should be the order of the day.

Thanksgiving 2005: I was at OCS and a group of us went to the Fish House for supper. We had appetizers, drinks, supper, dessert, and some more drinks. When we were done we asked for the bill and the waiter said that it had been taken care of and he told us to have a good night. Never did find out who picked up the tab that night.
