Then of course the VA-205 farewell patch....Sorry, no clue why I can't make it smaller ...

One of the all time great, anti-PC Naval Aviation patches .... VA-205 was at Whidbey in force for the last Intruder Ball. In fact, most of carrier Naval Aviation was represented at the last Intruder Ball. If I remember right, VA-205 had stood up in A-4's, transitioned to A-7's, and closed it out with a brief transition to A-6's. I managed to get an "original" patch. It's sticker cousin got plastered all over the VA-128 hangar during the party ('94? '96?) --- which was, by the way, absolutely the greatest party Whidbey Island has ever beheld !!!

I first noticed the sticker adorning every mirror in the head when, while waiting in line (all johns and urinals were SRO) one of the brightest guys in the room shouted "SINKS" .... and solved the problem for all of us waiting in line. You know, the mirror and the sticker were right above the sink ... I mean urinal ... I mean sink .....

How's that for smaller ??? --- shrunk it with MS Office Picture Manager ... :)

While serving on a joint staff in Europe, the AF pilots were constantly tremarking about the cool, non-PC squadron names and patches of the Navy and Marine units. Also liked the way we could wear (almost) any patches on our flight jackets. Its tough to beat names like the Jolly Rogers, Grim Reapers, and the classic, the Pukin' Dogs.
In our squadron the C.O. would sometimes hint to some of us JO's to "commemorate" an event or an action with a creative patch. Didn't mean much to outsiders, but was great for morale.

Working on designing a class patch for my Primary squadron. Just wanted to get some feedback or suggestions.... I'm not an artist or a graphic designer so be nice!

Thanks in advance to everyone!

Which slogan do you all like better with the pic:
"Putting the 'cool' in 'scool'" (yes, school is supposed to be spelled incorrectly)

or.. "Retarding the Throttle" ??

Plus i like the professional "navy" only patches on flights suits. I think that is what seperates us from our not so professional blue bretheren. Just a thought.

You're kidding right? The AF is very restrictive on what patches they can wear. Ever seen an AF "fleet" (or whatever the hell they call it) pilot?

Navy has some of the best patches out there. The standard circle "United States Navy" patch is laaaaaaaaaaaaame. It was prohibited to wear it in my advanced squadron.

One of many reasons to like the TACAIR community... lots of different, individual patches.

Great stuff A-4's and BP!
Here's a couple more at the end of fun era before PC took over. The Lincoln shakedown cruise was a real redass, GQ sucking rubber for 26 day with 5 fly days and a Skipper who decided it was great opportunity to get all the mandatory 3500 training out of the way for the year so you couldn't even seek deep shelter. Teamwork 90 never happened as we went off to war in ODS instead of playing cat and mouse in the fiords of Norway. Unfortunately we had 2000 patches (another mad skipper idea) Both patches were designed by Keith Miglio one of our ECMOS.

I'm all for morale, esprit, and patches, but that "slow kid in a helmet" thing is just awful.
