01JUN26 SNA/SNFO board

For my ISPP folks, I reached out to a CPO that handles some board questions (Mr. Celestin gave me her contact info when I submitted my package) to make sure my package made it to this board and she got back to me yesterday saying my package is still under review at the ongoing board!

Yeah, I had an Air Force officer slot a couple months ago. Just contingent on me graduating college. However, some medical issues came up and the Air Force rescinded it. Already medically qualified for the Navy, just need a slot.
Upon arriving to OCS you go through something called NAMI. pretty much MEPS on crack. I’m honestly worried about this myself. But if you have alarming medical concerns it probably will come up at Nami unfortunately.

I got the same answer … it’s annoying because I’m deploying in November if not selected. So I’m trying to figure out if I’m going to ocs and PCS’ing to Pensacola after or if I’m getting the family ready for my deployment. Wish it would happen faster but we are on navy time lol.

Deployment money is already pretty good as E5/E6 enlisted… I am salivating thinking about it as an O2/3-E. I’m thinking we’ll hear within the next couple of weeks though.

I haven’t seen or heard of anyone getting denied as ISPP with a complete package unless I’m missing something. From what I understand we’re a shoe-in, but I’d definitely also like to be told the definite “yes”

Yeah that 03 pay will make deployments feel easier away from my wife and daughter. At least I know we will be financially in a much better situation lol. Also that officer retirement will be great later on in the future. My plan is to do 30 years right now lol. I’m at 11 now. I guess we will see how I’m feeling 10 years post commission haha.

1) NAMI is a place in Pensacola, not the physical itself. Minor details

2) the physical shouldn’t be too bad as long as you don’t have any major medical issues there are ongoing or super concerning. My physical didn’t go as well as I thought it would but I’m here now

This could be a dumb question, but for anyone that has maybe already gone through primary, is it worth it to keep chasing ratings prior to joining? I got my PPL in between my first and second submission, and am sitting at 86 hours right now. I also have my high performance endorsement, spin endorsement, and have even done 5-10 hours of acrobatic flight training in a Super Decathlon. I'm about 25 hours away from getting my instrument rating, but am wondering if it is worth the time or money to chase this rating, when (assuming selection and no unexpected medical hiccups) this will all be paid for by the navy. I'm still working my full time civilian job, so just wondering if this would be the best use of my time as opposed to trying to improve in some other way. TIA

BLUF: the only thing that will probably help you in instrument knowledge and maybe the aero. Other than that, it probably won’t help

You’ll end up learning the way the Navy wants you to learn. Even if you come in with prior knowledge, you still have to get used to the fact that everything you do will be happen at a much faster pace than you’re used to. Not impossible, but very much a grind

Instrument knowledge is more or less the same. Once you learn how to shoot an ILS, RNAV, etc., you’ve done most of the leg work

I agree with the above. Instrument knowledge is great and can help you but anything besides that not worth it. If you work hard during primary (and study beforehand in the pool) you’ll be fine.
