OCS 11AUG25 IWC BOARD // Nerd Thunderdome 2025

I am anticipating that we'll get results for you guys who went to board by this Friday, and I will be receiving my results from I-SEL after this Friday but before the end of the month. This is because I suspect they use I-SEL guys as a way to plug holes in the OCS pipeline, so my results need you guys' results as a precondition

Y’all lucky your recruiter replies! Mine goes radio silent and I’ve gotten two responses in the last 9 weeks that have not been helpful at all.
The last one was before the shutdown where I was trying to figure out how to be productive and improve my package incase it’s no since I hate wasting time and not being prepared. Took her 2 weeks to reply to me and said she had no ideas and to just be patient and wait for the results.

I’ve been checking in with mine every 3-4 weeks but mainly to let her know where I’m at weight loss and mock PRT progress wise. Then she lets me know there’s still no news and I reset my internal clock to send her another update in a few weeks. And round and round we’ve gone basically all year at this point 😂😂

If it helps, my recruiter has said that supposedly, the board itself is complete, but the results are taking forever to release. I don't know the internals of the board review process, so all I can extrapolate is: hurry up and wait.

There are a lot of posts / comments in this site saying the board decision just takes up to a couple of days (depending on the designator) and the vast majority of time is about the red-tape/process afterwards.
Our fate has been decided weeks ago, just that it's taking a frickin' long time for everyone else to get the news. But I guess it's life LOL

Maybe part of the process is stuff like getting OCS slots assigned and the myriad of paperwork that comes with it. Shame that it's taken this long but we've already waited two months, what's another week or two (hopefully)?

Oh yeah, it’s probably waiting on one signature or something silly like that. I do wish the process was a little more transparent (does it need approvals and work like officers promotions do?) to help understand why some of this could or does get tied up sometimes.

Yeah for me personally, I just became eligible to apply for OCS due to my naturalization taking some time and since I've hit my mid-30 my options are limited and the longer delay definitely ain't helping.
My biggest concern is being born and raised in a foreign country(although a very strong US ally with a huge US troop presence), the IWC community might just pull out my package and give me a DNR. I've read some horror stories about candidates who got a pro-rec Y did not get a finsel due to one of their parents being foreign born or whatever security risk the Navy is not willing to tolerate.
My OR said I should be good and he knew my personal background, but we'll see. Sometimes I ask myself if I'm trying to pursue somthing that I wasn't meant to even bother, but hey who cares. I only care that I gave my best shot.
Marine Corps and Army told me to fuck-off for having a bad eyesight even if I was killing the physical fitness exams. But at least the Navy is giving me a chance.
