Not sure how it works for Intel, given you need to have a polygraph and all that. I’ll tell you this much. Having been through TS investigations both inside and outside of the DoD, I can tell you it will be significantly faster than you might think. I believe for me it took a total of 4-5 months after reporting to Pensacola. In any case, if that’s what you want to do, then you gotta just roll with whatever the requirements are. Biggest thing, if they ask you for paperwork or references and all that, the only thing you can do is submit everything as soon as possible, other than that is kind of out of your hands
The most important thing is that your TS is submitted once you're accepted. It doesn't have to clear for a while.
My TS took the longest of my peers by a long shot (~9 months). Most folks cleared in less than 3 months, so its quicker than you think

I was selected for intel with no prior clearance. If I remember correctly, I had to fill out an SF-86 for a preliminary secret clearance to submit my package. Immediately after being notified of my selection, I was then told to start another more detailed SF-86 to start the process for my TS. I think my recruiter might have even told me to do this in the same email congratulating me on my selection.
Military clearances do tend to get cleared more quickly than others and with the intel pipeline being the way it is, it's likely that you won't even need a TS clearance for at least a year. So yeah, it will be processed in time. Nothing to worry about at all.

Does anyone know if OHARP is going to be reinstated for SNAs post OCS any time soon?
No. They have no plans of reinstating it. Big navy did not like it.
I am a junior college programmer on track to graduate May ‘25 at my university's NROTC unit that I joined this semester. I will apply for an advanced standing contract this spring and will hear results next fall. I was wondering if I could apply to the July ‘24 pilot/nfo OCS board (9 months from my graduation) in addition to my application for an advanced standing contract. Hypothetically, if I got accepted to OCS I could deny the possible advanced contract I may be offered. The reason for applying to OCS is i'm worried my lack of leadership in my large unit will hurt my SNA odds.

It makes little sense to me that with an 8ish month wait time in Pensacola they wouldn't offer OHARP. Why not have the JO SNAs go help recruit while they wait to class up? The Navy missed their recruiting targets this year, so wouldn't having some young, bright-eyed officers to sell the lifestyle be exactly what they need?

The officer side was short on SWOs and it wasn't due to a shortage of applications so they did it to themselves in a way.
Having worked with many OHARP the short time they are assigned doesn't allow for much meaningful work.
Your command should have a security manager who is familiar with this process. Your clearance won’t be adjudicated for 6-12mos once it’s filed/approved.
