I wouldn't say favor them more, I've seen a good amount of AM and AD get selected for AMDO. As well a few AMEs. like exNavyOffeRec said, the more maintenance background you have the better. So if you've worked on more than one platform, have documents so casing your maint skills and leadership you'll be fine. I was an AM while on Active Duty and did six years in the Reserves an AT.

Only reason I say that is because I saw past selections and it was heavy AT and AE.
 
Thank you! I am trying to see where I fall in with your rates. I don't think I fit into any of those rates. Does the Navy have a rate equivalent to Maintenance Management on the enlisted side?

Based on what I know from talking to Airforce cats, Navy rates don’t translate well because we do a lot of thing in and out of our jobs.for example, I work on all electronics, perform corrosion prevention and control as well as turn aircraft and plane captain stuff.

Yeah the Air Force is very specialization heavy. You just named about 4 different AFSCs (rates). Although we are trying to merge a lot of our AFSCs and turn into a multi-capable Air Force. I've never worked maintenance on any aircraft or nukes, but I have worked side by side with officers since I was an E1 because managing maintenance is its own AFSC in the Air Force.

Yeah Naval Aviation rates and Air Force Maintainer careers are spelled out a little different. I was a SPEC (Advanced Fighter Aircraft Integrated Avionics Specialist) on F-22s for a while. Which is a Navy's AT, AE, and Aviation Structural Mechanic - Safety Equipment (AME) put together. When i came back into the Navy my whole AFSC was translated over to AT. Oh yeah, it doesn't hurt to submit your CCAF as well. Since mine was in Avionics Systems Technology. Also, if you've completed ALS and NCOA that's good as well. I put those in my package as well in regards to leadership, but this is for the SELRES AMDO.
