07NOV2022 INTEL BOARD

Our command OCS coordinator emailed Mr. Celestin on Monday, asking specifically whether our packages were received/reviewed by the board and if they weren't, why they weren't since we all turned them in before the deadline and what the next step would be. Naturally, we have not heard anything back as of this morning.

Good idea! I’m holding off on that until I beat Brilliant Diamond. I’m also waiting on the new Zelda game and waiting even more patiently for Metroid Prime 4. If they drop both next year that would be a glorious year for Nintendo. Especially given that Dread is the best selling Metroid game and Breath of the Wild is the best selling Zelda game by far.

Did y’all see new dash is out, seems like they selected 12-13 ppl and 36 are expected to get selected next board if I read that correctly?
 
I think 14 would be the number selected, just cause they needed 25 each board when there were two boards remaining for FY23. Now they need 36 so 50-14=36 for the next board. If I'm interpreting that correctly

UPDATE: Hey everyone, finally got an update from Paul! After emailing him several times, I finally just gave him a call, and he picked up immediately (because of course he did).

So anyone who submitted before the Oct 7 deadline but whose package did not make it to the Nov 7 board will be pushed to the next INTEL board in February. Apparently the sheer number of applicants was part of the reason why he could not get through them all, and the way he was explaining everything made it seem like INTEL was fairly competitive and this happens with some regularity (don't know how true that is, though). As I was speaking with him, he was reviewing the package from one of the Sailors at my command, which tells me that my package will probably be reviewed soon, perhaps today or sometime this week. He reiterated that he will send a confirmation email directly to the applicants once he reviews their package in full.

While I'm glad we finally have an answer, this is kind of a crappy system. Why is there only one guy reviewing all the AD packages if the volume of applicants is that high? If I'm not mistaken, he looks at all of the active duty applicant packages; SNA applicants frequently number in the hundreds, not even counting all the other designators. What proportion of those applicants are active duty? And is he reviewing the packages as they come, regardless of designator? The boards for each designator are on different dates, so is he prioritizing applicants based on the closest board? Something tells me he's not (because that would be difficult), and if he isn't, why aren't there others who can review? Perhaps have one person do SNA applicants, one person do IW applicants, etc. I understand that one applicant can apply for multiple designators, but regardless, there has to be a better system than this. What's the point of having a NLT date for submission for a specific board if our package isn't going to make it to that board anyway?

Sorry, rant over. It's just frustrating.

With the applying thing I think it depends on when you submitted. I emailed Paul yesterday and he said my package was at the board. I started getting concerned because my name wasn't on the at board list. Anyone have any idea when we may see results hit BOL?

When did you apply? Like what day did you submit it to him?

As far as results are concerned, it looks like they've been posted lately within 4-6 weeks after the board takes place, so you'll likely know before Christmas.
