Future Aviators,

Greetings, I am the creator of ASTB Prep, a software product available on Android and iOS to help people prepare for the ASTB. When using the UAV Simulator in the product, you can now choose to use just Cardinal and Semi-Cardinal Directions (N, NE, E, etc.) or include 30º and 60º offsets of the drone direction (N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, etc.). I'm still unsure if this update is being pushed out to all ASTB applicants, but at least you can now prepare for any possible scenario in the UAV section.

I am continuously improving the product, and feedback would be constructive. Don't hesitate to DM me via air warriors or the developer page if you decide to use the product and have suggestions, questions, lesson suggestions, etc. I will try and get your recommendations implemented as fast as I can. Links to the products are below; please don't confuse this product with the app named "ASTB Tutoring." It is essentially a knock-off of what I have built with no lessons, no simulators, and a recurring fee. Good luck.

Two Scoops,

Thank you fellas, for the recommendations I have received thus far. Shout out to umijs for the idea of creating a new mode in the UAV Simulator for the iOS version. Once enabled, it will transition to the following scenario in about a second. Let me know what you all need, and I will try and build it. The video below shows what I'm referring to.

Howdy everyone, it's that season so here is my "what are my chances" post. ROTC at a Senior Military College, lots of leadership experience while here. 3.01 GPA in a tier 3 major, 260 PRT, four years of Russian language courses, 677 ASTB score. Hoping to select SNA. SNFO is third, SWO is second (I don't think it's as bad as everyone says, I think the surface navy is cool). Thanks.
Only time will tell, just pray October rolls around soon

This made me think, do letters of recommendation count for much in selection for SNA? I haven't heard anything about them in my NROTC unit. If so, who should I seek them from (active, retired, rank, branch of service, etc.)
I've seen that it can give your chances a little booster. I would seek a LOR from a Navy officer O-4 and up. I'm sure one from a pilot would be even better.

You are NROTC correct? That is a completely different animal and you need to ask your advisor.

LOR's don't matter for aviation, most of the time they aren't even looked at.

Lurker here.

I took the OAR yesterday for the first time and scored a 52. I am only interested in SWO program and I intend on NOT retaking the exam. 90% of my study material came from the gouge that people posted here while the other study materials came from YouTube and other internet sources. Study the gouge because it is similar to the exam.

Thank you everyone for posting all these useful study guides!

Could someone explain how to set up this kind of work problem? Completely lost on this style of problem where people are added after a delay.

If it takes 6 people 10 hours to stack a certain amount of blocks and they start at
11am, but at 5pm one person is added every hour, how long will it take to complete
the job?

a. 60=6(5)+7(x)+8(x-1)+9(x-2)+10(x-3)
b. 60=30+7x+8x-8+9x-18+10x-30
c. 60+26=15x+19
d. 76=34x
e. X=1.6 hrs less, 8.4hrs

I've been staring at this one for a couple days and cannot figure out how they got to step one with the info given.

I think that example is wrong, I'm really rusty at these but I'll give it a shot. It takes 60 man hours to complete the job regardless of how many people are working on it. After 6 hrs of work 6 people have done 36 man hrs. 11 am - 5 pm is 6 hrs. So there is 24 man hours of work remaining. 7 people then work for an hour, leaving 17 man hrs remaining. Then 8 people work for an hr leaving 9 man hrs remaining. Then 9 people work for an hr finishing the job. Total it took 9 hours.

I didn't spend enough time figuring out how to make that into an equation.

Thanks. Don't know why I didn't think to just ignore the equation and work it out with common sense.
