I knew I'd catch someone with that nerd trap. I thought it was gonna be Jim or Nittany03 but it's always nice to be surprised.

That nerd trap comic reminds me of a joke going around on the internet, back in the 1990s, of the Star Trek good guys vs the Borg. Basically the good guys upload a copy of Windows into the Borg, who then start playing Solitaire, get completely bogged down on that, and stop attacking the good guys.

Clever comedic concept (and somebody spent a lot of time writing it). It was a lot more original than the old warship vs lighthouse joke.

Potential History major right there.
The funny part here is I did the war college JPME-you too can have a masters (as masters that is half history and half gubmint studies) and ME for undergrad. If my post secondary formal education were expressed as a complex number then I guess it has both a real component and an imaginary component. :D

And just enough knowledge to be dangerous in both areas!

Oh and their entire existence is a gigantic waste of money and resources, and probably the best example of DC’s dysfunction. Lobbyists/contractors with former Flags on staff float the cleaving off of the space directorate of USAF so they can have their 4 stars sit in budget meetings with the AF 4 stars because god forbid a 3 star attends a meeting with a 4 star. An administration with a knack for branding thinks it sounds cool and Congress trades it for paid family leave, with the assurances made NRO, NGA, NASA, and elsewhere that a “Space Force” won’t have anything to do with them. So we have an entire fucking military department who’s entire job is GPS sats, (some) comm sat, and radar stations to monitor space. But hey, everyone got rich, so fuck it.
Is it though? I mean with space becoming more and more important and with the different branches having their own space assets, wouldn't it be better to have a specific force devoted to defense of said space assets? Sort of like how the Army Air Force was split off to become the Air Force...? I have no dog in this BTW, just genuinely curious.

The USAF was doing just fine defending our assets before those exact same people switched uniforms and continued doing the exact same job... except now they have a whole other bureaucracy to feed with precious DoD dollars. So, no... not better.

Couldn't the same have been said though about the Army Air Force...?
