A/C Wings Here
Here is a nice article that dances through the history of various tilt-rotor projects especially high speed (in excess of 400 kts) concepts. Looks like Bell is doing a little future imagineering work!

Not for nothing, but I would prefer that my SAR bird did not have a shark mouth motif.

If I remember, it was an actual mission.
Your right. Remotely piloted B-24 that was packed with explosives, but needed a crew to launch and fly to 2000', then arm the charge then bail out. After arming the charge, the explosives went off prematurely.

Sounds like something I'd plan...what could possibly go wrong?

Saw an article on this old idea..I seem to remember seeing it ages ago in AWST. The 747 “arsenal” cruise missile carrier.

I think this or a new B-52 equivalent would make a lot more sense than the B-21. Given advances in air defense over the last few years a bomber with the capacity to fire a large number of fire stand-off weapons, that can be easily replaced as they themselves become obsolete, makes more sense than a manned bomber whose technology is vulnerable to becoming obsolete before their production is even finished.

The inherent flexibility of that type of bomber also lends itself to a wider variety of missions to include Navy-related missions like ASUW and mining, both would be great to counter a large country vulnerable to having a few chokepoints impeded and a growing surface Navy countered in an increasing number of ways.

Speaking of B-52’s.
