Heh! It seems the french air force produces their fighters so that they can be in a variety of music videos and movies. I heard they actually dropped a "bomb" once though...

The French are actually some of the more capable and professional operators out there.

Don't confuse their military with their politics.

They are the only other country that operates Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carriers, and one of the few that has any conventional carriers (as in non-VSTOL)

Right on. It will be interesting to see how their election this Spring will change the dynamic in that sense. Sarkozy is arguably more conservative than Chirac and may be more inclined towards a closer relationship with the US, while the Socialist party chick, Royal, may go the other direction.

They are very professional flyers... I was alluding to the fact that they don't involve themselves in many combat-oriented deployments -- often see involvement in peace keeping operations, however (ie JTF HOA / Chad) --which relates to the internal politics of the country. .. The election results will definitely be interesting.

The dubbing in the movie reminded me of the voices in "Team America", only with real people...

Their ECM gear is not bad either.

I can't find my picture of it, but the Mirage 2000 guys have a patch that says "Lock up a Mirage 2000-D - When Pigs Fly!" The French are no dummies when it comes to advanced weapons systems; their choices on who they sell these things to sometimes leaves something to be desired...

Anyone?

I'm gonna go ahead and jump on this one. Just watched it. Lame plot/acting. Great shots of flying.

Zilch

This...is...Caketown!
...so we'll be spared the...soundtrack by Kenny Loggins (the French think he's a genius, sort of like Jerry Lewis)...

Please, please tell me you aren't serious about that. Even as a joke, it made my heart hurt and my inner child die a little. It can't be true.
