Colombian Prostitutes - Good Times or Career Enders?

Just a few years ago you could substitute homosexuality for prostitution in your statement. Yet today you would get hammered for not defending gay service members. Political correctness rules.
What possible good? Maybe if it happened often enough, these news media witch hunts and self-induced scandals would end. Less sensationalism and more of getting back to doing the job.
BTW the Australian Navy officers I had a beer with in Sydney the night before last were laughing their asses off over this goat rope. They said the scandal in Australia would be if the hookers were ugly or if they guys paid too much. It's only the U.S. that has a problem with hookers, it's legal in most of the rest of the non-Muslim world. This is self-induced pain.
That's true, but the law has changed, so we adjust accordingly. I think there's room for debate as to whether that constitutes political correctness or just addressing a fundamental fairness issue that was out of sync with social norms in the 21st century. Not my intent to get into that here.
Would you be as quick to defend the perps in this case if the prostitutes had been 16 year old boys, even if it were legal in Colombia? I suspect not. If boys will be boys and they're entitled to blow off steam any way they please (rules be damned), where do you draw the line?

Free Nothing! The Canadians steal tax revenue from the "haves" and redistribute to the "have nots". They are socialists that we can fix with corrective behavior. I can personally assist in correcting that behavior. You're welcome.
By that logic, wouldn't the entire UCMJ be void abroad? Or, also using that logic, wouldn't it be perfectly acceptable for me to smoke up in Amsterdam? Or stone my wife in bumblefuck Afghanistan?
Again, I don't think that this is the PC-fest that you're making it out to be. These guys violated written policy, a policy that's in place for good reason for agents of the United States government who hold extremely sensitive positions. They knew about the policy, and they willingly violated it. They disobeyed valid orders. That's why they're in trouble. They were in Colombia on official business for the government of the United States, and they should have conducted themselves as such. When you're travelling on your brown passport instead of your blue one, a good rule of thumb is that you probably shouldn't do anything that you would be ashamed to tell your wife or mother about.
You're entitled to your opinion that prostitution is OK, and many governments agree with you. But, common sense should and government policy does place limits on the conduct of federal agents working on official business overseas. These guys fucked up, they're being hammered for it, and it's NOT because we've developed a PC culture or their superiors are moral hypocrites.

Here's another place the big wigs should stand up to the plate.
