Carrier Mishaps

Seems that you would really be waiting until the last minute, for the sole purpose of taking out your angst...

But I understand what you're saying since there are more Phrogs than Shitters or Skids. But it seems that since they bone the Phrogs up front, followed by Skids then Shitters in reality it would work the opposite (unless you're going to ride Mr. Toad's wild ride until the end).

Believe it or not (and as funny as it may seem), there is no animosity in the order. I was told (like you said) that it had to do with how many we have and how much each of them are worth (in terms of $$ and utility to the MEU).

I agree, though. I can't imagine this ever working out as briefed. If I lose my brakes, if somebody doesn't stop me, I'll probably be going over the scupper really soon, and hence jumping out.

Truly the last hope in a no brake situation on the flight deck are the brown shirts and blue shirts. They will try to throw one of the tie down chains they have around their necks around one of your main mounts and then get the trailing hook into a pad eye. If you are lucky the chain will catch on something and no one gets run over in the process.

Speaking as a former brown shirt, I'd rather you hit something. Trying to loop a chain around a main mount is tough. I just about had my head taken off trying to do it when an F-14 broke it's towbar and lost it's brakes on the Forrestal in Oct. 87, Thankfully it hit one of our helos and came to a stop. Worked out pretty good, one less daily inspection to do.:D

...what is your question? he ejected onboard a carrier...not exactly a standard response. I would be tempted to say I would stomp my left foot on the floor first, then keep one hand on the bye-bye button. am I wrong?

Until you have at a minimum one of the following, you might want to reconsider making judgements on topics such as this.

1) Gold Wings

2) Tailhook experience

How the hell would you know? Taxi around on a wet rolling deck a few times (or let's just say....ONCE) and then come in off the top ropes. Until then, STFU.

It would be a bold move for an expirienced NA to armchair QB this one. For you to do it is well, you do the math.

No brakee = no stopee......pull black and yellow handle.......pretty standard, and briefed, response.

Any more questions candidate?

I see my post has turned into an all-you-can rape buffet. I apologize, and I'm gonna go find a chalkboard and write " I will not talk about pilot-y things that I have not done yet, especially in front of the most elite pilots in the world anymore" a million times.

I was actually referring to the rudder pedal, not the brake. but as I look back now I realize that he was going way too slow for that to do anything.

...still writing.....

I think your only problem lies in shooting off your mouth re: things you know nothing about ... oh, yeah .... and your attitude stinks, too.

Cheers. :)

Hey kid,

Quit while you're only marginally behind. Everyone who has smoke checked you thus far has flown around the boat in jet aircraft. We all know a thing or two more about working around the boat, get it? Basically, take heed and shut face.
