SWO Board Meeting on 6 OCT

Well some people have special situations such as college graduation next year before they could even ship and the like. I would say he is such an outlier, they he borders on statistically insignificant (no offense lol). OCS dates from the 29Oct Aviation board will likely setting around March. If am an Aviation non-select I'm planning to leave somewhere in that time frame for SWO. I think a lot of people from the May aviation boards without special circumstances settled around end of August, September and early October for OCS dates.

Thanks for the info. Makes sense.

I talked to my OR today, and he told me the letter should come in a few weeks.

I heard something similar from mine. Something about my letter waiting to be signed. Apparently they budget about 45 days a year (don't quote me on that) for FINSEL processing/signing. In any case, we should be hearing sooner rather than later. I was told to expect my enlistment ceremony pretty soon. We're talking a few weeks.

You might want to read some of the older threads and how long people for SWO have waited for FS letters, some are still waiting from the previous board, it is generally months, not weeks, it is not uncommon for a status to say "awaiting FS signature" for months, it is just a status that comes after pro Y, once a person meets the requirements to go to the next status they are moved and then wait again.

You are probably right. Read the previous posts and did notice the waiting period was months not weeks. I was leaning, perhaps too heavily, on what my recruiter said. I completed my security clearance and medical stuff early on. Don't know if that helps truncate purgatory at all.

Completing medical is normal now, and it seems that the security clearance signatures are the same now, so you should be in with the pack.

I should also mention that the OR I talked to was not my original, and he did explicitly state that he was "new at this". People have been talking about OCS dates anywhere from February-May, so that's what I'm expecting right now, regardless of how the FINSEL is distributed.

Just took the OAR so that step is finally done. However, my recruiter said I wouldn't need letter of recommendations when they submit my packet. Is this true?

I just read a post from an applicant selected from Oct 29th board and he got his FINSEL last week. He starts OCS in December 14th. That is an insane turnaround! They apparently want to get the letters out before the holidays. http://www.airwarriors.com/community/index.php?threads/final-select-purgatory.33425/page-111

It's worth mentioning that he didn't have any special circumstances such as age or needing expect from current orders or anything. I was PR-Y in the 29OCT Aviation board, but I have to leave now which is why my stuff turned around so fast. For people in emergency situations, I've come to learn that my scheduling isn't that uncommon. Though for the guy you are referring to, that is odd.

Wow, that's crazy. Like I said, I had read from a few people on here that the classes were all full through January, but I know things change.

Well, since I HAVEN'T already heard, I don't suspect I'll get in a class THAT early, but I DO need to prepare to report earlier than I anticipated for sure. Like that applicant, I also don't have anything holding me back as far as I know.

I did speak with my OR this Monday, and he said that he would most likely not even receive the Fin Sel for a few weeks. So that being the case, I don't suspect there's any chance I would get put in one that early. Who knows, though...

Glad you got your FINSEL in time

Heads up. It's looking like all the quick turnaround is for the SNA applicants. I take it they are scarce so they have no problem finding them classes. Plenty of us SWO recruits though. Continue to expect spring time class dates, ladies and gents
