2011 August, September, October, etc. OCS Boards

All of the restrictions for height and weight are in,

http://doni.daps.dla.mil/Directives...s/06-100 General Physical Fitness/6110.1H.pdf

This instruction also has the PRT requirements and how to perform body fat measurements for men and women so you can check yourself and make sure you are good. I used it because I am not in height and weight and measured myself at 16% BF. I just did MEPs yesterday and they measured 14% so it seemed they were a bit lenient. The weird thing was that the Navy max body fat for males is 22% but the MEPs guy wrote down 25% max because I am 25 years old. Not sure where that came from.

Thanks Goofskater. I already knew the height and weight restrictions for me and the body fat limits too, but I was just asking more to find out if they always measure body fat percentage or only if you are out of the heigh and weight restrictions, which Lucy cleared up for me. Glad to see MEPS was a little more lenient, though.

Got off the horn with the OR. He said there still hasn't been a confirmation on the actual date in august of the board and that they haven't given the okay yet to start sending packages up either.. He said the month before rule will probably still stand. I also asked him about possibly being rejected because of too many applicants.. He told me no, everyone will have a chance to be looked at and they will not reject your application because of this reason.. How true this is, Idk.. Just contradicts some of the other roomers I read on this forum..

Well that's my update. Everyone else please update us as well..

Just met with my OR, he said next boards are for sure in August! I'm glad to say I'll finally be able to throw my name into the mix if all goes according to plan..

Also, he said that they just changed the ASTB. You can only take the new version twice in your life and there's a joystick... lovely. If you took the old ASTB and need to retake, it won't count as any of your 2 attempts at the new one. Best of luck to everyone on their packages!

He said none would be rejected but what about tabled for a later board. To my understanding that is what has happened in the past and my OR was pretty unsure about it. I am trying to make sure that my app doesn’t end up sitting on someone’s desk till it is to late, so I am going to keep investigating.

From my understanding tabled is not usually due to too many applicants but rather to give specific applicants a second look over before a yes/no without making them reapply. If there are 200 people in the "Must have" pile but only 150 slots at the board, then the bottom 50 "Must haves" are saved until the next board to compare against another set of applicants. Bascially, they don't want to lose really good people just due to numbers so they get put on the next board to make sure if that group of 50 is not better than the new applicants.

That makes a lot more sense. I am just wondering where you heard this from because my recruiter seems a bit shaky on it and my limited experience with the Navy and Federal Government bureaucracy is the way that makes the most sense is usually not the path that is taken. I just don’t want to get screwed because I sat back and watched it happen rather than do everything in my power to make sure things were done correctly. Once I get a for sure confident answer I will take it just haven't gotten that yet.
