I wonder how they factor in for people who are Pro-Rec for two things. Most people put in for SNA and NFO at the same time. If SNA and NFO were to all choose the same people, they know of course the selectees are going to one or the other.

so in actuality, there will be less that actually choose NFO because they were pro-recd for SNA?

a lot of the NFO pro recs will be taking their SNA pro rec instead, I am will be, so i would guess that there are 30+/- tru SNFO pro recs. I have not seen anyone who was pro rec SNA but not SNFO for this board (i don't think)

Looks like the march rollover is going to be a blessing in disguise.

Just got word back from NRD San Francisco and unfortunately I received a SNA non-select.

Stats for those curious:

9/8/9 67 - ASTB
2.7 GPA Human Biology Major @ UCSD
Professor/HS coach/employer - LOR
Team Captain of HS rugby club + plenty of community service
Killer motivational statement
No flight time/no navy interviews

Congrats to all selected!

Well after the long wait, I'm a non select sna/snfo. It's time to start working on the reconsideration letter.

I don't really know what else to do to beef up my package...On the ASTB I got 6/8/6..53 (not the best but above average, I think), I have over 1100 hours of navy flight time, 3.3 GPA, and 6 great LORs all from O-4's/5's/6's. I guess I need a few admirals to write some letters.

My OR says that I should retake the ASTB but, If the guy who gets a 9/8/9 and can't get in, I don't think the risk (of doing worse) is worth it. Not to mention plenty of guys have got in with lower ASTB scores than mine.

As we all know our OR's write there own recommendation to the board. I would like to know what my OR wrote, is it ok to ask them to see their recommendation?

Thats another shocker! I would have thought you would have gotten your second choice at the very least. So are you going to wait another 6 months and then apply with those scores? I wonder if this competitiveness will continue on in the upcoming boards or if it was just this month. I wish you the best of luck in the future.

I did not apply for NFO as I had hoped that only selecting one designation would increase my chances of receiving a recommendation. Ya know, a sort of "Here is my app and this is what I know I want to do" sort of way as opposed to an "I'll take any of these three options please".

The application process has done nothing but increase my fervor to reach the pro-rec goal, so it looks like I'll be joining many others in the re-submit. At this point though I am quite curious as to how I should go about beautifying my application. Here's to hoping my OR has some good gouge on that one!

Also gents ..timing is everything. Keep applying no matter what. If you're non-select keep working on it and maybe it'll work out. What's good enough one month might not be good enough for the next and vice versa.

The Navy is getting smaller right now so the competition is getting fierce...do whatever you can to make yourself look good.

EDIT: Ladies and gents...oops :)

This is good advice. The military changes its collective 'mind' every time the wind blows.

I have not received any info in regards to my application BTW. Talked to my OR and apparently I'm getting seen in the "non-existent" February boards that are now meeting(?). Who knows at this point!!
