In the "I can't believe they thought no one would care" department.

Wow. I think I heard the all the collective heads of every Marine who watched that video just explode.

I can honestly say, just from a passing observer's point of view, airmen aren't even close to Marines.

Not to mention the fact that the air force, even with Captains directing traffic (seriously), can't put on an organized, smooth airshow to save their life at Edwards. Was the worst day I've had in a while.... The Miramar show was great.

Wow, I had to wait a few minutes for the laughing to subside, that's ridiculous! I wonder what numbnuts in the AF recruiting staff thought that would go over well. The AF does some things well but fitness just isn't in their culture - a lineup around here more closely resembles a wal-mart checkout line than a military organization. They're starting to give it some lip service but they've got a long way to go.

The hardest people to deal with are those who are semi-intelligent enought to convince themselves that they are right.

Can't find a link to it, but AF Times also ran an article this week claiming a whopping 40% failure rate on the new AF PFT.

I'll go a step further and venture to say most Airmen aren't even in the same ball park as an average high school student.

On the other hand, the Airmen I've seen lately have had so much damned time on their hands and so under-employed...maybe they're taking advantage of it and getting in some good gym time!

The USMC should invite some AF recruiters to MCRD to show the DIs some pointers on fitness..

I had to watch it twice to see if the guy saying it could say it with a straight face. He did. Apparently, he actually believes that crap.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't waist-size get calculated as part of the Air Force PFT score?

The main reason that is happening is the removal of PT testing from units - tests will all be conducted by civilians from the base gym, so they are a lot more anal about form, etc. PACAF has already transitioned to this; word is at some bases it's difficult to find open equipment at the gym sometimes since there are so many people enrolled in the mando fatbody programs.

I think we can all agree it's BS. It doesn't help matters that the guy in that video sounds like he should an extra from Deliverance.

I tell you what, those running shoes sure look a lot more comfortable to run in than my Bellevilles ... it must be nice to have that hardtop to run on instead of every fucking root in Quantico trying to jump up and break your leg.
