Yeah... after just arriving from OCS, I have to say I was shocked to see how many people were fat and lazy. 15 4 count flutter kicks and people are complaining and struggling?! Seriously? Next time, I'll be working out with the air crewman, who actually show some motivation for being where they are. Whoever that instructor was, I apologize for not knowing his name, was right from what I could see, A-Pool is a laughing stock.

I don't know, maybe its because I'm new, and though I do understand this, things are different outside of OCS. But as weak as PT this morning was, it's amazing people were complaining and struggling through it when you're here to fulfill your dream. "Blows my mind" to quote my CDI.

2 main things-

Chip Trail Itself. I was making 10:30 on the road at OCS. I think I did about 11:57 at API and I was only 3 weeks post OCS, and still working out.

If you are a "constant speed runner" like me on the PRT, save the last 100 yards maybe, You have to pick your way thru those that start slow and then deal with traffic the whole thing.

I'm not the best example of physical fitness, but I'm in decent shape. And 12:0 would be hard to do..

As a FYI to the Motards, step back a bit from the yut juice. The Navy's shining example of physical fitness is probably a 6'3" 185 pound marathon runner who can't bench press his own weight. But man can he run.

I don't think the chip trail is really that bad. A lot of people are blaming their failures on it, but when you're running a 13:30 we all know the truth...

It's just sad. You look at the aircrew candidates and they PT like studs. I can only imagine what goes through their minds when they watch their "leaders" struggle through a set of 15 pushups.

I hate that skinny bitch. He might be faster than me, and max his pft run, but I can throw his skinny ass over a wall and kick the shit out of him.

Welcome to the Navy. Not everyone is a PT Stud. SHOCKING!

(sorry to break that to you)

I am in good shape, but I'm running a 13:30 on the PRT. I go for 60/60 PU/SU, any more is a bonus. .

And SERE proved to me, in an evasion scenario, my "less than ideal ass" can keep going a bit longer and harder than a lot of people who smoke me on the PRT. Life is more than just speed and pushups.

Oh for sure---trust me I agree completely. Just like you, I'm better at moving big weight than I am running three miles. My point is that a person in good shape will have their strengths and weaknesses. The problem is that some of these people don't have any strengths at all---except eating double doubles.

Mmmm double double.

I would be ALL ABOUT some Animal Fries if I were a west coaster! Probably why I'm looking a bit "un-trim" in my uniform these days and weak on my pull-ups. This will change.

Motivators,

Don't be so quick to count out that guy that runs alot slower than you. He may max pushups and situps and ...He may be a much better leader than you are.

I agree its hard for a disgusting fat body to lead by example, but I urge you not to just write one off as a shitty leader. A guy in my class failed the API run comming in at a whopping 16min. He then got motivated lost 40 lbs and smokes my ass every time.

Chip trail blows. If your a really fast runner it won't hurt you, but I was running 10:30s which is well within Navy standards and I managed an 11:59 on the chip trail passing by 1 sec.

You may look sharp in uniform and you may be a PT stud, but if you can't relate to and effectively lead your people what good are you.
