Its very good to hear someone with a lot of motivation like yourself Kag. I feel whatever route you take you will make good decisions and become a solid Sailor. You remind me of myself. I did the whole DEP program (1 year), enlisted right out of HS, I was an Operations Specialist (OS2) for the past 2 1/2 years, got STA 21 and now Im attending ERAU trying to get to flight school before my 24 birthday. Like every one before me has stated the quickest route is to stay in school but you do what you feel is right. The Navy is all about timing and if you got it, you got it.

Man, I've been gone from here for a long time. Anyways.

Stats:
HS GPA: 2.4 ish, maybe lower I didn't pay attention
College: 4.0 - I think 30 ish credits.
ACT: 29 English, 35 Math
ASTB: 7's and an 8.

Most of my college was pre-engineering prep. Calc I, II, & III. Physics 1.

Kag,

I think you'll be good to go if you go straight to college. I can only speak for myself, but I wasn't ready for college straight out of HS. Still had a lot of BS-ing to do (As is evident from my HS GPA). But once I was finished with all that and became focused, I was able to buckle down in my field, and show that I deserved a commission. Now, I think that everyone who REALLY wants a commission can earn it from the ranks, but your situation is going to dictate what opportunities you will get. This applies especially to ability to take college classes that really prepare you for a University, God knows that PACE doesn't do it!

I'm here at CU in Boulder, and I've met MIDN that still don't know what they want, or even what the Navy is about. Which basically means, you have people in both spectrums that are just trying to figure it all out for themselves. I've seen college kids leave when they didn't get the option they wanted to go and enlist, and now I'm seeing DEPers leave to find another option towards their goal.

Either way, if you pursue your goal, with whatever choice you make, do it the best you can and it'll turn out fine.
