Noob question here. I’m planning on getting a new G-shock before shipping out to OCS. Would a watch with Bluetooth functionality be an issue in any way, either at OCS or beyond?

Yes, although probably not for several years beyond OCS. I’d skip the bluetooth and save your money with a good basic watch (G shock, Ironman or similar) that can take abuse and get you places on time.
