Regarding NATOs...yes, they do have a tool watch appearnace...AND they’re safer for your watch [head]. A spring bar fails when utilizing a bracelet and/or conventional strap/band...DANG...the watch head will most likely hit the deck and the movement/case/bezel/crystal could be damaged. A spring bar fails when utilizing a NATO...SWEET...you still have another spring bar preventing the watch [head] from hitting the deck. Spring bars fail...not often...but they do fail.

Omega makes a number of high end/luxury NATO straps that are well made and look great - in leather and nylon. Not cheap but @mad dog and I both have a number of these.

That said, the stainless steel bracelet is a great go-to as well - as favored by Clooney and Hanks - anything either of these guys do is automatically cool and worthy of imitation IMHO...

It’s not a high end watch...it’s a high medium end watch.
Wear it however you want (as you already do...belt...), it's okay to be different. I'm just saying you won't find the vast majority of people with their Omegas, Breitling, Rolexes, Montblancs, Patek Philippes etc. on NATO bands.
