I’m surprised they left out the machines flown by the gallant aviators of the 160th…When you think of all the things that could’ve gone wrong…
I’m kind of bummed that I’m no longer in the know.
Edit: this made me laugh

FBI Tactical Helicopter Unit…THU?
My main concern is for when whoever convinced Trump that this was the correct course of action, falls out of favor with him. Like the first time he got tough on Iran by following John Bolton's advice......and then he booted Bolton and abandoned that course of action. I might have been in the CSG that experienced that churn. It is concerning because none of these ideas were his (he listened to his advisors), and while I don't disagree with the ideas themselves, nothing is worse than a half-executed plan. The ramifications of abandoning this one before it reaches a logical conclusion are large, IMO. To include supercharging Chicom or Russian involvement in Venezuela to a greater extent than might have naturally occurred otherwise. Which I assume was the primary goal of this intervention in the first place......to end that involvement once and for all.
I did just enjoy the WSJs account of the raid which marveled at helos flying at only 100 ft above the water!

Deal of the Century was peak '80s comedy. What the hell?! That picture reminds me of being in elementary school, seeing an educator’s diagram of the female anatomy for the first time. Things just aren’t where I thought they were supposed to be…

Add to that the geography. The city rises from sea level to 3500 feet rather quickly.A large tactical formation flying on goggles at low light level with no moon at or below 100ft into an air defense system of a hostile country? There are lots to downplay in the hyperbole of WSJ or other reporting, but that’s not it. Maybe they missed some details but the operation is indeed impressive.
Ok so we saw Maduro transported to Stewart ANGB in Newburgh, NY via DOJ operated 757.
He was transported via 2 helos to West 30th st heliport in NYC. The aircraft appear to be Bell 412 and Bell 407 operating as a 2-ship.
What agency would be operating these aircraft? Anyone? @phrogdriver ?
Proof that mission planning tools are critical enablers to success. There is a reason you didn’t see somebody balling up a secret aircraft because we had bad performance planning tools.Add to that the geography. The city rises from sea level to 3500 feet rather quickly.
I still find it amazing that a decade plus after that, the funky helo isn’t more known.Proof that mission planning tools are critical enablers to success. There is a reason you didn’t see somebody balling up a secret aircraft because we had bad performance planning tools.
Your search was better than mine. Couldn't find a pic. Now we can talk about drones.
