Hey All,

First off, good luck to everyone on this upcoming board!

I have my OIC interview this week and wanted to get any last-minute advice or tips anyone may have. I am applying for 1835 and 1885.

This is my first time applying!

Thanks in advance!

Howdy,

Here is a collection of my thoughts:
  • Try to be able to pull an imaginary thread through the PA, your resume/experience, and what you want to do. Do some self-reflection and make sure that your goals genuinely align with the Navy's and be able to express that. i.e., "I want to serve in Navy cyber" and the Navy is looking to hire folks to improve their cyber capabilities.

  • Sit up straight and be interested even when the members are talking:
    • Smile
    • Nod your head
  • Shave/be groomed and dress well.
  • Do not make up answers. They will respect your ability to say you do not know or its outside of your wheelhouse.
  • Have at least two questions prepared to ask at the end.
  • The tone was conversational, but always be respectful.
Best of luck!

Hey @DogTrap,

Thank you so much for this! It is greatly appreciated!

Very helpful thoughts, and I hope to add to them for others after my experience.

Best of luck to you and all!

My recruiter told me this morning that my RRA was approved and submitted to the NRC - any guesses on what my timeline might look like from here?

I've asked my recruiter but he hasn't responded back yet.

If what you mean was a record review prior to MEPS, it is highly unlikely you would have time to be considered for this board. SSO pre-screen's alone were required in april-may for a number of NIFR regions, which preceed ones ability to sit for panel interviews which are generally wrapping up.

I was selected with the past FY25 board. Took the oath, now just waiting to be gained.

Ah gotcha, very different question. Gain time is discussed in other threads, but it sounds like selection to commission to gain is generally 4-6 months.
