Top 10 unhappy schools

Seconded.. I fully expected it to finish in the top 5. ERAU's absence makes me question the validity of the rankings.

I'm definitely sure that there are many more than 10 schools that are absolutely horrible for something in one form or another. Saying there is a "top" ten is just to get some people to read that article. It's just like ranking the top ten schools.... Yale, Harvard, Cornell, blah blah blah, all say they are the best.

Bottom line- did you have a good time in college? Or did your college get you somewhere? Then who cares how good or bad you had it.

FWIW- I had a good time in college. Neither a big party school nor a big studious school, but I seemed to get by.:D:)

I was surprised to see SUNY Albany - a couple years ago, Playboy didn't even rank it in their top party school lists because it said it deserved it's own category or something along those lines. In terms of academics and people being satisfied with those... that doesn't come as a surprise to me at all though regarding SUNY Albany.
As someone who attended SUNY Albany, I can definitely attest to the unhappiness there. The entire campus is grey cement, and the weather is cold and snowy from October to May. It snowed the day I went home my freshman year on May 15.

School spirit is non-existant, probably because the sports teams all suck. The only thing to do around town is get drunk at some of the dirtiest, hole-in-the-wall bars imaginable. There really isn't much entertainment to be had in Albany besides that.

The party crap is over-rated publicity BS. In reality, the school administration didn't let the surveyors on campus a few years back, so the only people that they could interview were those living off campus -- that included frat houses. It's sad because that reputation overshadows the fact that Albany has a lot of good academic programs.

But, they paid my tuition, so I went there.

RPI huh? So you had like, what, 17 girls at your school? No wonder you thought SUNY Albany was cool. ;)

Actually 18.

It was interesting to watch the new frosh girls who came in year after year. I don't know how admissions did it but it seemed like each new frosh class did have more attractive girls. It has defiantly gotten better in the recent years, but still not at a state school level. You also need to remember Sage down the hill, some great girls down there. (My gf goes there so I have to say that.) I was also a biomed major, so my classes were actually about 50 50, and I did take advantage of that ;).

The one summer I spent up there stashed was actually a really good time, there is a lot of fun stuff to do over the summer. Lark street can be a good time, Saratoga is great during the summer too. More fun than February, that's for sure. I don't miss canceling PT in the morning because it was too cold just to be outside though.

With regards to SUNY Albany I've been there and can agree its like a prison, but I was recruited to a couple of other SUNY schools as well and most of them were like that not to mention the food that went along with them. Also I'm sure those Albany winters are a great addition to the UAlbany and RPI campus life. What about Union though in lovely Schenectady, up in that neck of the woods, I hear you're not allowed to walk off campus after dark there :p.

It's about damn time we are number one in something.

What makes coming back to that place even more painful is coming back from sea where none of the regiment existed, you grew your hair as you pleased (H20afro), and you drank in every port, or day (if the ship was wet), and got to go around the world.

Just to give people an idea of how sub par some things... our school had about 2-3 working treadmills the entire time I was there. They updated it just before I left, made it nicer, but the main weight room is still in a basement... gotta love that smell.

Was the experience worth it? Hell yes!
Would I go back? Hell no!

Oh yeah, and now we are under investigation

I know who you're talking about. :icon_smil

Ha, so it's living proof that you could get lucky with a hot chick at RPI. 2 people can confirm they in fact know a hot chick that went there. If that is the case, then EVERY college has to have at least 1 hot chick. (unless of course you go to a school with only dudes... in that case, you better get a degree that will make you a lot of money so you can score with models for the rest of your life)

Are there any all dude schools anymore? They still got the all girls schools, but I think all the male only schools have integrated. (Yes, RPI used to be all male)

Haha I don't know about all male schools but I go to one of those all-female schools that became co-ed. Men were admitted in 1969, kind of a fitting year haha :p.
