Also I'm sure those Albany winters are a great addition to the UAlbany and RPI campus life. What about Union though in lovely Schenectady, up in that neck of the woods, I hear you're not allowed to walk off campus after dark there :p.
Schenectady is a fricking slum with a corrupt PD to boot. (Big surprise, NY politics are rotten to the core; it's almost as bad as Chicago) They are trying to put in improvements to revitalize downtown, etc. but they've got a long row to hoe. It's not a place I'm necessarily afraid to set foot in, and there are some nice areas (Stockade district comes to mind). But overall it's a Rust Belt, has-been dump. General Electric is the only game in town.

My Mom and Dad live in Niskayuna, dad just retired from GE. Friend of the family is a retired Union engineering prof. So I know that of which I speak.

Guilderland is another nice area, my x is from there, I know a few guys that I played hockey with in juniors and lacrosse with in high school that go to Union and I've heard some stories from them, seems like its just like Elmira where I go to school, gorgeous campus, some what of a suspect town, but I guess we can't all have our cake and eat it too. Hopefully I'm going out there on Sunday for the O.A.R. concert in Saratoga Spring...pretty psyched for that.

Are there any all dude schools anymore? They still got the all girls schools, but I think all the male only schools have integrated. (Yes, RPI used to be all male)

These guys are.
I only know this because they sent me a lot of literature in high school.

I'm sure there's gotta be a couple more.

Quite honestly, I think a 100% dude college is better than some "co-ed" colleges with crap ratios.

Schools like GMI & RPI with 85% male, 10% female and 5% only their doctor knows for sure suffer from "IPS".

IPS is Instant Princess Syndrome, where women who would barely be average at a normal school become way elevated up the social ladder. Sucks for the guys when they are there, but I venture that it sucks for the women to have to readjust where they really fall into the dating hierarchy if they don't manage to get their MRS while they are getting their BS.

When my school was male-only (until 1982) they used to have events with the nursing school across town. But now that it's co-ed, the "need" for events with the nursing school is not PC and considered sexist.

I also much preferred when my squadron was all male, since we did not have to walk on eggshells because of one new H2P. (The other 2 chicks were cool, but the one.. UGH)

I'm going back into my cave now.

I did. Less distractions, but I made up for on the weekends.

True, but still even not having the ability to at least see women around campus would drive me insane. There's nothing better than to see some hot attractive girl (sorority or not) walk around campus or even in class with a tight shirt and short nike shorts.

Wait I take that back, there is something better: and that's if she's naked. :D

I agree with 100% of what Masterbates said. (About the schools... the squadron stuff - I haven't been there/done that yet).

IPS is real.

We always called it RIBS. Ratio Induced Bitch Syndrome.

I always thought that the ratio was always a little better than what the numbers said. Since so many guys at my school were uber geeks, a lot of them didn't shave nor shower nor leave their dorm rooms. There were girls like that too, but a lot more guys for sure. So I think that made it better.

I think it also depended a lot on what you did. For instance, I played Rugby so we would always hang out with the girls team. Not saying that all the girls who play rugby are amazingly hot, but at least our parties were at least 50/50, if not more girls than guys. We also would play other normal school and party there and see what "real" college was like. Oh the memories...

.....and instead I talk about the ridiculous amounts of badassery present at the University of Texas.

Could you describe the "ridiculous amounts of badassery"?

Ok Rugby girls can be cool, but generally not straight. If we're going on sexual preference... your parties were not 50/50.

Not entirely lesbian either ... more or less in between...

I would say that a majority were "normal girls" though, there were a few who played for the other team, but they were the minority.

If an anonymous survey was conducted, with no repercussions for those who participated, and all you had to do was honestly answer "true" or "false" (referring to whether or not you'd prefer this), I think the results would surprise a lot of people, while scaring the shit out of politicians.
